Ask one of your friends, like Rick Bruner, to show you how to put up pictures without fucking up your template like this.

Ha!

No.

Gravatar Are you really staying at the Cape Grace? Talk about the perfect sunset, drink in hand, visions of sac flowing through your head . . .

Gravatar Yep. Can't wait.

Gravatar It's also known as the best hotel in teh world.

Gravatar Yes, I'm well aware. Normally I'm only moderately jealous when it comes to you. This trip will raise it to at least Class 4 status.

Lucky girl. Now tell me again why I wasted my vacation days in New York during late-August???

Gravatar The other place I am staying is a winery which my friend's dad owns.

Yes.

He's got quad bikes.

Yes.

Gravatar It just hasn't been the same since the blacks took over. Sigh.

Gravatar My friend's dad owns a mattress store. We're vacationing there in October. No quad bikes, but the new Sealy-Postrapedics are to die for.

Gravatar Matress store?

I am so coming with you.

Gravatar That hotel totally looks like that apartment building "The Harbor" at Harborside in Jersey City. Total photoshop job. You taking vacation at ET's aren't you?

Gravatar m, I believe you misspelled coming.

Gravatar Actually, I guess both spellings are technically acceptable.

Gravatar The fun starts when you change the dollars into rands (prepare to become an instant millionaire...)

Things to do in Cape Town

1. Sundowners on Llundudno beach
2. Go see the penguins at Boulders
3. Go to Hout Bay
4. Lunch at the Foresters Arms in Newlands (if it's still there!)
5. Do NOT buy stuff (curios etc) at the Waterfront - it is a total rip off.
6. Go up the coast to Saldana area, there are some amazing seafood restaurants up there
7. Obviously the whole Robben Island trip is awesome
8. Do NOT expect anything to be done fast - this is Cape Town, not Jo'burg. The people even talk slowly
9. Take the cable car up the mountain
10. Wine tour through the Stellenbosch area (although the whole wine farm thing might invalidate this one, but it is a really good way to get horribly lost while drunk)

Actually the list is endless - hope the weather is good!

Gravatar Ahhh....wine and mattresses. I once had visions of obtaining two part-time jobs. 1. Wine taster
2. Mattress tester

#2, of course, would have to start in the afternoons.

Gravatar More things:

Sundowner cruises to Oudekraal.

Nightlife-town and roundabout (The Waterfront's not worth much here)

Get mugged on Noordhoek beach-it's a lovely beach, though.

Foresters Arms is still going strong.

Gravatar Rent and watch Dangerous Ground (Ice Cube/Elizabeth Hurley) before you go.

Gravatar Holy shite, Ice Cube AND E. Hurley? Recipe for garbage, mates.

Gravatar It does look like Jersey City, except with Tabletop Mountain in the background instead of Bergen Hill and the Palisades.

Gravatar Snoek tips in Trilling's article from last week's New Yorker.
