My favorite Joan A. comment, written in the New Yorker a year or so ago, was her claim that young women are drawn to ballet en masse because it allowed us to expose our crotches to the audience freely. Presumable she meant all those developes, lifts, etc. Yes, Joan. You hit it on the head, Joan, you genius. The crotch-shot without censure is undoubtedly the reason young women train and sweat and starve to be ballerinas. What a total moron.
She is an idiot. She didn't crack a smile once.
I think I read something about how she was once a dancer - I can't see that for the life of me. Judging by her mannerisms I would say she's been medicated for the last 30 years as well.
I think she meant it's the only reason men can make through a performance without shooting themselves.
Ah, the old "bitter ex-dancer turned critic." I just wish the New Yorker would kick her to the curb. I can just imagine MM, with all his innate talent and gifts and his intelligence, giving her fits. She does need to address her "pelvis" issue, clearly. Or start reviewing lap dances.
She was going on and on about seeing Matthew Rose's arse in all MM's dances. um yeah but you are the only one ranting dearie.
