A still life in the West Village town house includes a magnifying glass. (She collects.)
she collects what? still lives? magnifying glasses? dust? it's all so confusing.
hilarity is right; thank you for sharing both the poetry and the tripe.

Could a place be less of a home? Where's the warmth?
Anne, she collects crap to convince people they are intelligent and interesting. They are a perfect fit in this new New York of vapid, hollow, cretins.

Check out Gawker's diametrically opposed take.
Without having even looked at the Times article, I'm intrigued by whatever could generate such disparate reactions from Jess & Maccers. Hmmmm, I wonder with whom I would agree???

Home schmome. I don't know anything about interior decor other than I HATE it.
It's the article that really made me hurl. And the fact that there is one above all. Is this more of the look where I came from trailer park to riches dry-heave?
Blech blech. I have seen a million nicer interiors. In Darlington.

Um, if you hate interior decor, why not avoid the Home and Garden section? She's actually pretty sweet and verrrry hardworking.

they have a senegal and an african grey parrot. they couldn't have chosen two more insane high maintanence parrots...and yet they're gone for weeks at a time? too bad the decor pix didn't show the birds, both of which tend to pluck themselves bald or in other ways self mutilate when they don't receive enough attention. so they have a grim looking house and unhappy pets. what does that have to do with coming from a trailer park again? it speaks more of a short attention span and a lack of kindness.

I think it's interesting in a late 50s-early 60s kind of way, although I'm still reeling from the whole 60s vibe from last Sunday's Times design section. Colors that absorb light and energy; pokey, sharp-edged furniture; disharmonious eclectic. Yak.
