Gravatar You can get most of the same things--well, the drinkable ones, at least--in Paso Robles, in Central California.

Plus this guy makes them with huge alcohol content--like this one, which is one of the best wines I've ever tasted.

Gravatar foie gras is great, abundant, not too expensive and unpretentious. wine is cheap. oh yeah, people are generally much nicer than your average parisien. the weather is nicer too.

is it hard to find a job though?

Gravatar Dunno. That's the thing that screws up all my plans. The bit about supporting myself. That bit has screwed up all my plans to date. Fuckers.

Gravatar You probably know this already - Jean Vigo's Zero de Conduite is playing tonight (7/11) at the BAM Rose.

Gravatar o i favor the langue d'oc it was what my heroine, eleanor of aquitaine, spoke. move there! move there! move there! and you will inspire songs through the ages (but i suppose you already do).

Gravatar Languedoc ... isn't that where Jesus' family moved to? No shite the wine is good!

Gravatar Don't even think of moving! We have plenty of liquor stores here in NYC.

Gravatar The problem is that the (^&*(& British are bidding up house prices all over the south of France, so that places that used to be incredibly cheap to live in no longer are. Check out some of the postings at the next real estate place you pass. Don't forget to convert to dollars by multiplying by 1.25.

Not that I blame the British. If I lived in their crappy country I'd want to get out too.
