i don't know whether to cry on your behalf or laugh at your humor. you probably get that a lot. five asshats in one night is a lot to deal with. you, however, are fabulous. and now you can get a new photo I.D. that shows that off to better advantage.

I'd love to say community spirit was better here in blighty, but I suspect rather the same thing happens too often these days wherever you live. You also guilted me out. Our next-door neighbours hosted a huge and (from the sound of it) rather vicious fight at 4.30am the other week. When one guy shouted that he was "GOING TO SLICE YOUR FUCKING LIVER OUT, YOU MOTHER'S CAAAAAHHNT!!" I really should have called the police. Mind you, both men had been detained at HM's pleasure, so I reasoned they probably wouldn't thank me for phoning plod even if they were facing imminent and non-elective major organ surgery.
And judging by your post, the NYPD are little better than our coppers when it comes to handling "low-level" crime. Tsk.

I empathise - I had an egg thrown in my face Nov 5 and the interim has just been day after day of hospital visits - one guy stopped to help briefly then siad he had to be somewhere - this at 1.30 am!!

From one mug-ee to another, I feel your pain. Although I was not physically assaulted - unless you count having my finger almost ripped off - I have trouble walking down the street now. Every foot step and every dodgy character is a potential mugger.
