18 months, apparently. Though it is only a fleeting memory; my earlist most reliable memories start at 3.

My son remembers things from 18 months. I don't know if memories from these ages persist, but I bet they are part of a five year old's impression that all is right with the world. Or not.

This story will be part of your niece at 20 years whether she remembers it specifically or not.
