Which one do you use, for personal use, or I should say, if you could pick one for all your use, what would it be? I have been considering going to some form of Linux, but start up, blind, as a newbie is a bit daunting.
I suspect, after Linux, I might move on to another platform, or add another platform, but first I would have to start on that stepping stone, and getting started is the rub, currently.

Yes, it can be. I personally am a big fan of linux live cds - they allow you to use linux, get the feel of it and, if you like the distro, THEN install it. That way you don't commit until you are happy!
My personal favorite is SimplyMepis. You can read the info on it here and download it from one of these mirror sites. I've used a few others, mostly successfully, but SimplyMepis just feels comfortable for me (well, I like Knoppix a lot too, but it's a lot harder to get from the cd to your hard drive as an os successfully. It's GREAT just running from CD though!).
I haven't tried it out yet, but I've heard a lot of good things about PCLinuxOS

I am going to try and download the first one, and give it a spin if I can. I had tried to get Knoppix downloaded, several times, but it just would not download right, from several sources. Thanks, I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks a lot, actually.
Hmm, if I can, I might download the PCLinuxOS too.
My last hold out is gone for remaining Windows, they stopped making computer games, essentially. Though this last offering of Windows is just downright creepy in it's invasiveness (which they are trying to retrotarget XP with, actually). Lots of other reasons, but. Gee, I talk a lot.
