Gravatar I understand those wanting to keep it hidden, but if it exposes an Iraq connection to 9/11, I don't understand Bush, et al, wanting it kept hidden. Or republicans either, considering it would help them when they slam it down the throats of democrats. Just saying if there is something there making the connection between Iraq and ANY terrorist attack against the US or US interests, it should be made public.

Gravatar Sue,

Apparently, from what I gather, there is a lot of support to get "this open" - so 200 or so join Weldon.

But there are others who don't want to even look at anything pre-9/11 - period. The thinking? That whatever was broken is now fixed so "what's the point"? It's a distraction and the MSM will just turn the whole thing (as many left wing bloggers are doing) as just another "Bush/Cheney gonna kill us all for the oil deal."

Also remember that even though the majority of Able Danger took place during Clinton's years, Republican's had the house and senate and sat high on committees. That said, 2006 and 2008 commeth.

Additionally the MSM who missed a lot of Clinton's malfeasance, has a lot to loose if the story really breaks - I mean, where were they?

Sad but true but Washington lives and breathes around the ballot box. It's the way it is.

We can all agree that we have done a lot and the fact that another attack on our soil has not been accomplished since 9/11, is well, amazing!

Again, Weldon is beginning to "sell the idea", but I wonder if any real progress will be made. We'll see.

Gravatar Mac,

Why would Bush hold back Able Danger if it pointed to Iraqi involvement in 9/11? Or republicans for that matter?

Gravatar Mac,

While I agree with you about the President not wanting to play that way, I personally feel it was one thing to act this way while Clinton was behaving in a Presidential manner. But when you have the Clinton-Clinton duo currently going on, with HC continuing "to act" like a hawk, and BC in Dubai, slandering the Bush white house to a Middle Eastern audience, not to mention the recent performance of the Congressional Democrats, you would think the Bush administration would remember that it holds quite a few cards vis a vis Able Danger.

Meanwhile, I saw Rummy on Fox Sunday News. And when Charles Gibson asked him about Able Danger, he simply forestalled the matter. He nattered on amicably and superficially about some people remembering it, but there was no documentary support. And he left out the point about the terabytes of documents being destroyed - which, of course, would make documentary proof harder to come by. And there was no obvious follow up on that point by Gibson. Wish he had gone in for some Hardball at that point.

A very disappointing and uninformative performance, unless you don't want Able Danger to see the light of day. Which appears to be Rummy's position, at least publicly.

Well now that cobweb is doing some hard hitting political speeches of his own to help rescue the Administration from the polling doldrums, one can only hope he'll have a mental shift on Able Danger as well.

Although doubtless the media would cast the story as Bush Cheney White House resort to dirty tricks in order to rescue their administration.

Gravatar Macranger,
You are so right about Bush. He doesn't seem to want to play those games.
At least, not right now. He might let a little slip out, especially if Hillary is looking like the frontrunner for 2008.
It is a shame, because these Able Danger guys are great Americans and don't deserve to be marginalized or intimidated by people who are supposed to be on the same side. They deserve to be heard in an open hearing.

Gravatar Mike,

No doubt, one could be confused as to why the present administration would be 'holding back' if this thing could forever pin back the Clinton Administration's abmismal record on terror.

The fact is that this President, to a fault I believe, doesn't play that way. Thus he has been nothing but cordial to the "Clinton legacy", thus as "he wished", embarrasing facts haven't seen the light of day. Which is why "a much higher" than Rumsfeld has held this thing at bay.

Yet, "Delay, isn't necessarily denial", and in Washington everything is about "timing.

It's sad, but true. The story will come out, but probably not until say,...next year or 2007-2008. There are people who are holding a lot of cards on this and they are all aces.

Gravatar All I want is the truth, and not the partial truth. I'll see your Clinton knew here:

One particular post caught his interest the most. During my studies of predictions I rendered a post on the "Twin Brothers" prediction by Nostradamus. In poetry form I put forth the theory that Islamic radicals would attempt to topple the Towers of the Trade Center once again, but via truck bomb or perhaps suicide bomber planes. He emailed to comment on that post to tell me that that was exactly what was planned for July of 1999. Which to my disbelief corresponded with another Nostradamus prediction x-72 for July 1999.

I emailed the White House, the Clinton Administration soon after. I was responded to and told that this Atta would be investigated. I was shortly after contacted by a pentagon emailer, a member I was told was in a Unit named Able Danger, I was told to keep up the emails with Atta, and several others who had begun to email me, so I did.

And I'll raise you a Wolfowitz axed it here:

JD: I guess more importantly, Lt. Col. if we have the order of destruction for the information that we had, who's responsible for shutting down Able Danger and dismantling the infrastructure to continue to get information on suspected terrorist cells, organizations and connections?

AS: That's a good question. I don't actually know who that is. I know that, I know my part. I was ordered out of the operation by a 2-star Army general named Rod Isler, who came to the point where he was yelling at me, demanding that I stop supporting this. Each individual within the group had their own horror story at how we attempted to say, look this is pretty important stuff, global terrorism, you know these guys have killed Americans we should continue this. And we were told to a man and woman, no, sit down, shut up, move on, it's time to forget about it. And this all happened in the spring of 2001 right before the attacks.
