Weapons of Mass Discussion - TROLLS wll NOT be tolerated. Period.

Gravatar Well.... Was that a unanimous decision among the Whole Show, People Know Him, and Sean? Or was it 2-1?

Seriously, I think Tom had all the opportunity in the world to make a case, but I think it required work that he didn't see as worth doing, namely showing us specifically and in detail where he disagrees with Jean's voting record. If he's as arguably conservative as claimed, it would have benefited him.

But without doing the dirty work of analyzing Schmidt's record from top to bottom and doing a self-comparison, how are we to know? At that point, you have to fall back on the fact that the outside rating groups collectively put her at #2 or #3 in the OH congressional delegation. Admittedly, due to RINOism, the competition besides Boehner and Chabot isn't strong. But she votes with those gentlemen the vast majority of the time.

Given her record and standing, you have to ask "why change?" Tom should have made a comprehensive case. I WANTED him to make the case, because Jean, as is the case with most incumbents, needs to be pushed and be reminded not get too comfy.

But Tom didn't do that. In fact, his web site has NO issue positions (Schmidt's doesn't either, which is weak, but at least she can say "look at my roll call votes, and decide for yourself").

Brinkman only has a link to his OH House voting record, which of course would reveal little about what he would do on national issues. Geez, at least McEwen had a cheesy issues page with one-liner, soundbite-length "positions" on issues.

So Tom's literally left with "I'm a good guy, and I'm not Jean Schmidt" as the only reasons to vote for him. That's not good enough.

Gravatar Brinkman has a clean 100% conservative voting record when it comes to taxes and other issues, something Jean Schmidt could never claim. Also, last time I checked Brinkman had not been reprimanded by the OEC for a “reckless disregard for truth” or “making false and misleading statements.” For some of us character is THE issue to consider, and no one can make a sound argument that Schmidt’s character is anything other than reprehensible.

Gravatar Actually Schmidt was rated as the "most conservative" of the Ohio delegation by the National Journal. If fact she was rated as one of the most conservative out of all House members. Well ahead of Boehner and Chabot. True, Brinkman has not yet been reprimanded by the OEC but he was called a criminal by a sitting judge, fined over $4600.00 by the FEC and his family business was caught failing to file tax returns. And the list goes on and on. I guess this is Nate's idea of character. Brinkman's fellow legislators voted him the worst legislator we have ever had. Totally ineffective! Schmidt is proving herself to be the "true conservative" and this is a great endorsement from WMD.

Gravatar Bill just pwned Nate. A sight to behold.

Gravatar I'm beginning to wonder if maybe Nate is still irked that the 95-pound girl marathon runner kicked his @$$... Just saying...

Gravatar Let ’s take a look at the single most important piece of legislation regarding our economy in the past 14 months: 1/10/07 Vote 18 H.R.2 The minimum wage increase.

If you REALLY want to destroy the economy this is how it is done. There is a direct correlation between stagflation (high rates of unemployment and inflation) and the minimum wage. If there wasn ’t then why don’t we just make the minimum wage $20 an hour?

Your ‘true conservative” Jean Schmidt voted yea along with the likes of all 233 Democrats including folks like Ted Kennedy, Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, and Dennis Kucinich.

The nay votes included: Steve Chabot, Roy Blunt, John Boehner, Pat Tiberi, Tom Trancredo, and Jim Jordan.

This vote ALONE is should be enough for anyone to FOREVER refrain from giving Schmidt the label of a “true conservative.” I could care less what her other votes are, she betrayed the economy by siding with the Democrats on this one!

Gravatar Maybe Brinkman's next campaign slogan can be "Hey, I oppose taxes so much I don't even PAY them!!"?

Gravatar "Also, Mr. Brinkman claims to be a "solid conservative," but he takes the money and endorsements of left wing environmental groups, and sends targeted populist mailers to union members because of their penchance for voting Democrat."

Compared to Jean Schmidt, who wants to dump nuclear waste in our district and supports legislation to ensure manure isn't classified as a pollutant, it's not hard to look green by comparison. Can you cite any specific votes that proves Brinkman is such a liberal? Of course not. It's too bad that's the best you can do to slam his record.

Schmidt, on the other hand, has voted for higher taxes numerous times, voted for government-set wages, and voted for numerous pork.

As for hating on Schmidt because she's female, I wonder how that explains his support for Mary Taylor or Sandy O'Brien. Last I checked they weren't male. Let me guess, you're supporting Hillary Clinton for President?

"and he opposes the death penalty for terrorists"

Why did Jean Schmidt support raising taxes for military veterans?

"you couldn't find him with a search warrant in terms of his availability to the primary voters at party functions"

So why is Jean Schmidt refusing all debates and joint appearances? Tom Brinkman has agreed to debates numerous times, only to have Schmidt pull out. You couldn't find Schmidt with a search warrant anywhere in the district. She is the absentee Congressman.

"Also, he directed people in his COAST organization to support the liberal Vic Wulsin in the previous general election."

Prove it. Give me any real proof.

Gravatar Well S=T,
here is some real proof.

Brinkman and his family are tax cheats. Look it up.

Brinkman has never NEVER appeared at any Brown County party functions asking for our votes.

Brinkman and COAST continued blasting and castigating schmidt until deep into october.

And voting for higher taxes numerous times, you say? Give me the proof. You have one vote you continue to talk about. One. And that was in the state house.

In congress she has supported keeping taxes low.

We give you numbers about her conservative rating and you snipe at those. No proof will satisfy you. Why don't you join another cult of personality and become a Barack HUSSEIN Obama supporter?

Gravatar Tom, Bill and WMD guys, thanks for doing a masterful job of analyzing the OH-2 GOP candidates, choosing Jean Schmidt for endorsement and then ably defending her against the COAST chihuahua attack dogs. This whole posting with comments makes me feel like singing.

Gravatar BTW, the good Congresswoman told me that she voted for the Taft budget back in 2002 or 2003 for a couple of reasons. First, the budget was going to pass into law with or without her vote, so her vote was meaningless. Second, she traded her meaningless vote with the Taft gang in return for the removal from that budget of 1.7 million of funding for Planned Parenthood. She's proud of her vote, because it illustrates her priorities.
She values human life above fiscal conservatism. Her vote for the Taft budget is one of the main reasons this card-carrying member of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy, Evangelical Christian Branch, continues to support her so strongly. As much as I hate taxes, my commitment to the sanctity of human life is much stronger. So is Jean's. God bless her for it.

I've explained this to the COAST propagandists several times. I might just as well have been shouting down a rain barrel. They are hopeless.

Gravatar How many lives did she save when she voted with Ted Kennedy, Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, and Dennis Kucinich to raise the rates of unemployment and inflation?

How many lives did she save when she lied about that fake college degree of hers?

What about her support of lifting the embargo with Cuba, or that gun ban in Clermont County? Did those decisions save numerous lives too?

Gravatar SHOW ME THE VOTES, Nate, or go back to that blog that has no influence in the district...

Gravatar The difference between me and the anti-Brinkman people on this blog is that I have PROOF that everything I say about Schmidt is 100% TRUE.

Gravatar Nathan Noy and CincyJeff (AKA S=T, etc.) are hopeless. It is useless exchanging comments with them. Their unbridled hatred of Congresswoman Jean Schmidt is irrational and permanent. And their adoration of Tom Brinkman is limitless as well as peculiar. Makes me think they are on someone's payroll.

Gravatar Excelsior,

If there are any paid shills around here it has to be YOU! All you ever do is spew pro-Schmidt propaganda and when someone raises a valid point like her minimum wage increase vote you ignore it and call that person a woman hater.

I ’m still waiting for someone to come to the defense of your “true conservative” Jean Schmidt on her vote with Ted Kennedy, Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, and Dennis Kucinich. Keep in mind that real conservatives Steve Chabot, Roy Blunt, John Boehner, Pat Tiberi, Tom Trancredo, and Jim Jordan voted against this.

You wanted proof? You got it above. Or do you think I somehow hacked into Thomas.gov just to make Schmidt look bad? Defend an issue already someone, which one of you is a closet liberal along with Schmidt? I don ’t see anyone coming to her defense on this vote, is there anyone that can call themselves a conservative that can defend this, anyone, anyone?

I thought not.

Gravatar You don't get to call me a liar on my own blog, Nate. Your trolling here is done. Thanks for playing. Now go back to that little blog with no influence in the district...

Gravatar By the way, dude...I was away takin' care of business...and now, I don't care about what you have to say.

When Jean makes a bad vote, and she has...nobody here is saying that Jean is perfect...we call her on it. CHECK OUR ARCHIVES... What seperates us from the crazies like you Nate is that we aren't willing to cricify a proven conservative just because she makes a mistake or two.

Speaking of mistakes, Nate, care to address Brinkman's lack of support for law and order? He opposes the death penalty for violent offenders. Care to explain why Brinkman is poro-terror? He opposes the Patriot Act and the death penalty for terrorists.

That's two dealbreakers for me right there...

Gravatar "He opposes the Patriot Act and the death penalty for terrorists"

Schmidt voted to raise taxes on military veterans. al Qaeda must be singing her praises.

Gravatar Excelsior is like the fool who believes a lie no matter how many times it's repeated. Right after Jean Schmidt's vote for Bob Taft's tax hikes, she wrote a full-page essay defending the vote. Almost the entire essay was defending it on fiscal terms.

She fully explained why the state needed the money. It took up most of the page. As for Planned Parenthood, it took up a mere one sentence in a full page article (I'm assuming she didn't plagiarize this one). She even condemned the Republicans who didn't support this tax hike because they were forced to find Democratic votes to make it pass.

That is what Jean Schmidt said at the time of her vote for higher taxes. It wasn't until 2 years later she pretended she never voted for the tax hike for fiscal reasons and used the Mother Teresa angle as her sole excuse.

I'd like to hear the Schmidtheads response to this one.

Gravatar She voted to raise taxes once. So, moron, what does that have to do with the fact your messiah is against protecting America with the Patriot Act and is soft on terror? Hmm? Non sequitor. Nice try. You lose, as always.

Gravatar Did I just see Nate Noy accuse Schmidt of wanting to ban guns in Clermont County when both she and her husband have conceal/carry licenses?

Zzzzzzzzz

You know, Noy comes to post on the WMD comments because he knows his words get more viewers here in the comments section than at his entire blog. How sad.

Gravatar CJ (AKA S=T, JB, etc.), you say it's foolish for me to believe what Congresswoman Jean Schmidt told me directly rather than your reference to some one-page piece you say she wrote in which, according to you, she admitted being a big tax and spend Ohio rep. Are you nuts? Oh, wait, I remember the answer to that question.
You proudly stated that you voted for Chillicothe's finest young son, Nathan Noy, in the last election. That ices it, knothead. You are nuts.

In addition, you write that I'm foolish for believing something that's repeated over and over. Perhaps that's why I don't believe anything you've ever written. You are a johnny-one-note who repeats the same tired, old BS over and over again. That's your MO. You and your support for the nutty Nathan Noy and the quixotic Tom Brinkman and your repetitious attempts to smear Congresswoman Jean Schmidt are boring.
Take a long walk off a short pier.
