The problem is, Matt has worked especially hard for all the notoriety we have gained...and while I don't care about what the leftysphere thinks, I care about what SOB thinks. And I don't appreciate the stuttering tabloid boy over there denigrating our work in Columbus. We don't do it fulltime either, it isn't a job for us. I find it amusing he calls us cellar dwellers when you look at his style of flamethrowing (and surfer, you think I am bad, check out naugblog) and calls us trash. I didn't have someone threatening to sue for harassment as he did on the old blog. I just don't want all of the work to be for naught. But, at the same time, politics is tiring at times, and we need to blow off steam. Part of the thing is, we DON'T want to be taken so seriously we get pigeonholed. Now, maybe it wasn't that funny. Maybe it was gutteral and juvenile...but darnit, we tried. I don't want to just be known as the guy who picks on surfer. I want to be known as the guy who picks on tom blumer, too.

So much for free speech. I may not agree with someone but I will defend their right to say it. Sound familier? Having received phone calls for things I have posted, I can fully appreciate where you are coming from on the issue. I haven't even seen it and it doesn't matter. The rights of expression and after all, it is your blog, you should be able to do as you please. You never see the hate blogs getting criticized because people fear recriminations, but hang tough guys, I got your back!
Mark, you mean the same blogger who spewed all those vile things about Matt Cox's little boy and how Cox was a terrible person and deserved what he got b/c he supported someone like Jim Petro (that's when I knew we were going to lose)?

Oh, but unless you saved those comments, you won't find any of them now b/c said blogger has wiped away all evidence of them and blocked access to his archives. How convenient...and liberal-like.
Ergo, he would clearly "sell out his own mother" to get ahead (sound familiar?)...so I would think twice b/f anyone comments further and/or discloses any information to that site.
Matt and Mark, I didn't really get what you were trying to say on the video and you wrote that you don't care about the opinion of anyone you consider to be in the "leftysphere," but I can tell you, having hypothetically received a threat intended to make me stop blogging about the statehouse race in my own district, I would never even suggest that you don't have the right to put this material together and broadcast it, or remove it - no matter what I think about it.
The political blogs function best when they engage in ways where we do learn something of value to all of us, even if we don't agree.
You make some great points about the value of your experiment. What more can you really ask for?

I am sorry to hear about the threat stuff. Even though you called me an asshat, and I called you a crone, I would hate to see you stop doing something you wanted to do, and I think there are times obviously when you make some good points, and we have had some good discussions.
What we were trying to do with the video was just kick back and have some fun. It was not about making a statement for political purposes. We just wanted to do some goofy stuff, to blow off some steam.
Thank you for the nice words....and please take this in the cajoling way I mean it, get back to your side of the fence, you humorless crone!

Eh, I've posted videos of my interviewing my 6 month old grand-daughter asking her political questions.
Stupid? Yes, but fun. I've also taken video of one of my daughters pretending to be a chicken, also stupid but fun.
Maybe that's why I actually got telephoned death threats...it was PETA!
Seriously though, blogging is supposed to be because we really enjoy it and get something out of the hours of time we invest. And look at it this way, you'll probably be ranked number one again next week on BNN because of all of the links to your blog.
Have fun and blog. Don't let the critics slow you down. While I don't always agree with what you guys say, I always enjoy reading what you have to say. Always. That is the point of our open and free society. I thought Naugle's shot was interesting, but he shouldn't influence how you guys operate or tend to your business. Charge!!!!
