We ran into Santiago again at the NHCC Museum during Voces. He was having a quiet afternoon communing with fellow artists through their work, and we rather rudely butted in and asked him to talk to the teens about his piece, which he did very generously. That guy rocks.
What amazes me is how much he paints. You know when people use the word "prodigious" to describe artists? An understatement for this guy. His show at DCAC had no painting older than 2001, and there were a TON representing a small sliver of his production for the last five years! AMAZING.
It's like each piece is a draft, and taken together, they are the masterpiece.
