I actually hate that picture, but I admit a strong aversion to cowboy paraphernalia. I believe "instant turnoff" is the phrase I recently used... and it was regarding cowboy boots, but that's close enough.
I read that Nation article earlier in the week and its really inspiring. It caused me to kind of close my eyes and imagine on Nov. 8...
"CNN can now call Texas... for Barack Obama." Just imagine the landslide that would indicate.
I know its not going to happen, even with the blue trend in TX it doesn't make a lot of sense for the Obama campaign to spend a lot of money there during this campaign, but imagine if they did go all-in there, and won.
Forget Obama, 
...the race to watch in Texas is the Noriega/Cornyn match-up for the Senate. It's a close one, and if Noriega wins, it'll turn back the red tide in Texas, and by a Latino to boot.
Noriega's polling really well down here, too. He's a great candidate. So exciting!
We're moving back to California in a week or so-- one of my biggest regrets about leaving Texas is not being able to vote for Noriega. He's such a strong candidate for Texas, given his military service and ability to present progressive ideas in ways that conservatives can get behind.
John Cornyn is such a horrible guy-- I have one friend who generally doesn't vote for Democrats ever (he's a wonderfully idealistic lefty who hates the two party system and the crappy slightly center-left candidates we always get) thinking about actually voting for Noriega. So If I can actually convince him to go vote, I'll feel a little better about leaving TX.
