They bought off some of the Anaheim City Council, but the people and businesses of our city had the guts to stand up to the city council and now we have an initiative on our June Ballot to prohibit Suncal from trying to pull another fast one here in Anaheim.

We heard Sandra Day O'Connor speak tonight, and interestingly enough she followed up a comment about how awful it is to see the influence of special interest mega-bucks in politics with an admonishment to "disagree agreeably." I felt like she was speaking directly to me. I guess my Stinking to High Heaven title wouldn't go over so well with her, would it?
Stan, thanks for reminding me, along with her, that this kind of thing is pretty standard. We need to continue to work toward clean elections bills that provide long term solutions, like the one the City of Albuquerque just passed last year. It really did take the money out of the City Council races, which was very heartening.
(In the meantime I think I'm going to go get a taste of that powder at Santa Fe.)
