4 lane highways and freeways are evil (albeit a necessary one for commercial traffic) and as damaging to small businesses as Walmart.

...been listening to a round robin of county election officials in NC and IN. A million and a half in NC predicted...if not more. Wow.

Yes, and on that note Erik (I almost plugged it yet again when mentioning Elizabeth City but didn't)... you must finish reading Blue Highways!

Was checking in on all the reports all day on voter turnout. Yes. Wow.

Sosososososososososososososo happy to be a North Carolinian tonight!!!!!!!!

Yes. Thank you voters of North Carolina.

But I have to say. Clinton has lost it. I'm listening to an acceptance speech.

And where are those votes for NE Indiana?!

Ok. Here's my idea for the day.

Let's have a contest.

The state with the highest percentage of eligible voters who go out to vote on Nov 2 gets a pot of money that we get all sectors of society to pitch-in to that goes to the winning state's schools.

LOVE IT.

I had the awesome opportunity to be at Obama's election night rally in Raleigh last night! The energy was incredible! Although the acoustics were bad so between that and texting with Maggie all night, I didn't really hear the speech! But I'm so proud of NC for coming out in droves like we did. And Obama finally gave a shout out to NC State - even gave the Wolfpack sign! What a night to remember...

Can't wait to see your photos! We had the whole family looking for you on tv!

When is HRC going to give up, or should she? This is getting old. Though it was good to see the amount of turnout at the polls yesterday!

I voted for the first time as a North Carolinian yesterday...and I have to say that I miss the old school New York voting machines where you go in, close the curtain, move a few switches and then pull the clunky lever to cast the vote. While the NC computer thing seems more efficient, I think it takes some of the magic out of voting.

I think she's out. There's no way to bounce back after last night.

Congrats on your first NC vote! Did you get an "I voted" sticker? I love the old-school tradition of those, but feel like I haven't actually gotten one in years and years.

I thought I was the only one who remembered voting in those machines, it's so official when you actually pull the lever & the curtain opens, you just know that your vote was tallied! Those were the good ole days for sure, that's why NY is so awesome!

I too was a first time NC voter and it was exciting to head to the polls yesterday!!

Are the "I voted" stickers a signature of NC?! It's the only state I've ever voted in so I thought every state did that! It's like a badge of honor

I thought I heard HRC saying something about looking forward to next week's primary and requesting more money from supporters...didn't seem like she was throwing in the towel. I hope someone has talked some sense into her since then.

I did get an "I Voted" sticker and it is proudly displayed on my purse...don't recall getting those in NY so I guess NC has some charm after all!

She still needs to raise money to pay off the millions she loaned to her campaign. This is the beginning of the end. Negativity will stop and we'll see a new trend of campaigning for the general, with both candidates attacking McCain and not each other. But she's done. Superdelegates are already switching today and consensus is growing that there's no way she can recover from last night.

I got "I voted" stickers in Vermont...along with the charm of scribbling my votes on a giant piece of green paper and folding it twice to fit in the slot of the giant, uber-polyurethaned wooden ballot box.

In Georgia you get a sticker with a peach on it that says "proud voter" or something to that affect.
