The turkey thing actually does not bother me. The whole idea of "pardoning" a turkey on Thanksgiving is dumb, but it's sort of expected of politicians. But I wish more people could be like Palin in one respect: acknowledging that if they eat meat, it's gotta come from somewhere.
She is a total nut, in general, though.

Love that you've compiled these here!
Eric and I spent HOURS on Saturday just talking and reading about this. He read me the Vanity Fair article, and I looked up all the little tidbits it mentioned that he missed -- the Letterman feud, the turkey slaughter, etc. It was such schadenfreude fun!
It's amazing to me that for all the huge dents in her credibility, she still remains a viable and desirable spokesperson for certain camps. If she remains so, I really think she'll be a wedge that could splinter the Republicans for years to come.

Palin is the biggest exercise in frustration for me... the mind boggles watching her trying to release a declarative statement, answer a question, or issue a quote. I just truly can't believe someone's mind could be that confused, to pair such words with such bravado.
And that Vanity Fair article? Damning.

I had forgotten to circle back on the VF thing. Thank you so much for posting my afternoon read!
And I could not help but laugh hysterically at the new "censured" version of the turkey video thing and Maggies point. Maybe the blotto image thingy should have been over her face and not the damned turkey, if one wants to protect sensibilities.

Blistering and GREAT wrap-up from Peggy Noonan about how the myths defending Palin harm the Republican Party:

Best quotes:
"For 30 years the self-esteem movement told the young they're perfect in every way. It's yielding something new in history: an entire generation with no proper sense of inadequacy."
-
"Really, she is the most careless sower of discord since George W. Bush, who fractured the party and the movement that made him. "
