My greater sympathies go to the dog as well. No question.

The lot they get in life is totally dependant on the humans that surround them. They are helpless bystanders.

I have absolutely no problem with the fact that I feel more sympathy for the dog. No need to feel horrible, mainja. People deserve our sympathy, but dogs are the higher form of life.
