The email sounds like a good idea, but maybe change "Petending not to see each other" to "Was that you on the Guelph bus?"
I agree with Dickey. That has happened a few times with me recently, where i wasn't too sure and out of social taboos of making fools out of ourselves, I decided not to say anything.
if you do see him though, i think you should walk up and say, "Umm, Mike? Is that you?" Why not? nothing to lose.
the whole thing is that we both saw each other, there is no doubt it was him, and really, i would bet vast sums of money that he saw me too. it was just that i didn't feel like talking to anyone. i wanted to be alone with my random thoughts.
I'm with Epi - If you see him tonight, just go up and say hi. Just say that you are exhausted but would like to connect with him at some point and give him your email. Then go sit by yourself so that it isn't a forced time together. Or send a similar email.
