That sounds great.
And I don't go to bars by myself either, I understand the big deal about doing it.

Sounds like an interesting evening, sort of strange, unearthly and exhilarating, those firsts...

didn't your mother ever tell you not to talk to strange men in the dark on the street! Oh, wait, I don't think I did.

i used to eat out by myself a lot, but nothing else.
i would have run away from the strange man talking to me at night in a shady neighbourhood. fast. (my mom *did* tell me not to talk to strange men in the dark on the street - probably a million times, knowing her!)

Never been to a bar by myself, but I have eaten out by myself, and gone to movies by myself. I don't mind it at all.

I haven't done it in a while, but inspired by your post, I stopped in at a bar on my way home from work. Delightful! Good for you for both of your 'firsts'.

damn long post ... it just had to involve men, I knew it. You're very predictable. It's cool, if feeling desirable lifts your spirits, heck, it's all good while it lasts.
Why don't you go out alone? What are you afraid of?

I personally can't roll just one eye, I usually roll both eyes. :-)
I had a conversation with an endocrinologist not too long ago and he mentioned the excuses that many obese people have for their weight. Some include (the over-used) thyroid problem. Then the birth control pill and the anti-depressant pill are common ones. And a popular blame is also the hereditary factor. This reminded me of you! :-) The people that use any or all of these excuses exclusively are usually in deep denial. Sure these conditions might trigger weight gain, but according to the doctor to blame OBESITY on these conditions is just ridiculous.
I think it would be interesting if you wrote about your obesity, but for that you would need some self-depreciation and rawness - which you don't possess. You would rather write about a grown woman acting giddy because some random guy paid attention to her. OK, that's what I call being on a cotton candy cloud.
