Ummm ... this'll probably sound totally ignorant, but could someone explain what the difference is between Gay / Lesbian and Queer? Also, what are "intersexed" and "two-spirited?" Sorry ... I don't get out much.

The other "T" is Transsexual, and the S is the Spirited part of 2 spirited.

This is according to Pride Toronto, at any rate.

2-spirited is the aboriginal term for gays/lesbians. These individuals were respected in traditional societies; but that tradition was lost and is being reclaimed.

i'm embarassed to admit though that i am still unclear on what the difference between transgenedered and transexual is.

Transgendered is an individual of one specific biological sex who feels that they belong to the other sex.
A transexual is someone who has had sex reassignment surgery.
Gender is related to the constructed notions of what is male and female, a transexual is someone who has become the other biological sex.
Usually someone who is transgendered is someone who is working on the process of becoming a transexual.
