you have a point there. but if you look at all comic strips, 'Peanuts', 'calvin and hobbs','Wizard of Id', 'Beetle bailey' etc. they all have a storyline that gets repetitive. i haven't read a comic strip which does something out of its character; Charlie Brown will keep losing his base ball games, snoopy will talk 'bout food when something profound about life is discussed, hagar will be lazy and fat and so on.
But then again this is my point of view....
