I don't know why people rave about Dooce when they've got YOU. She's so withdrawn and unfriendly and you're so warm and funny and nice. What's the deal with those people? I LOVE your blog.
Ooooohhhhhh, my mother would have told her class to sit right back down and that she would dismiss them when she was READY to dismiss them and not before.
That is SO unprofessional!

I was promised, when I grew "older" I would get the spine I am so lacking right now. I was told it would "come with age?" Are you telling me now that I will still get pushed around when I am all grown up? Well, that stinks.
My advice, next class, lock the door and talk loudly until your clock says your time is up. I hate bullies.

Oh and the elevator thing--tell me about it. What I really hate is being in the mall with our stroller and having KIDS who have two perfectly good LEGS push in front of us to get on the elevator and we have no other way to get from floor to floor because we have three small children and a Stroller. Have I mentioned how irritated that makes me?

Not so much with the lifts but I used to get the train to work. I remember one day when I actually stood and blocked the door and yelled at the people on the platform who were trying to buldoze me and my fellow commuters that nobody was going anywhere until they got the heck out of the way and let us get off the darn train. A couple of people applauded =)

You have to put up your cool poster in your office. Surely you have at least a desk somewhere with a bunch of other teachers? Put your stuff there, and the few clever and deserving students who stumble and find their way into your office hours will be duly rewarded. (Yes, if you end up having to move your office or something you'll have to move the poster but it's a small price to pay).
And that woman was very rude, and very unprofessional. Even if I KNOW the teacher before me is going long, we wait in the hall unless it's way way way long. Then I politely knock and poke my head in smilingly.
I don't understand the elevator thing either...it's not like you get there faster by being the first one on. Seems to me you'd want to be last..so you could be the first one off the damn thing.

I keep coming across your site on BE and I keep reading until an hour has passed. I finally got off my lazy butt to blogroll you. (OK I'm still on my lazy butt, but you know..) Anyway, thanks for the entertainment.
I just got finished grading a bunch of not so fun papers. I wish I could have fun like you do with creating tests but my kids are still working on things like how to end a sentence. I guess they get it from me bc I tend to go on in comments like these.
