Tell me what you really think.

Gravatar You hit the nail on the head. I constantly get dirty looks when I laugh at my kid, but I have to defend myself explaining that I'm not laughing AT her. As a mom, you have to find the humor in all the daily stuff to keep your sanity. It's not good to be so serious all the damn time.

Nice place you have here, btw.

Gravatar Hey nice post.

Gravatar I had my first moment of this last night when I really wanted to go "mama bear" on the idiot in the SUV near my house... an the twins aren't even born yet. Insanity is on the horizon-- I can feel it.

But I'm pretty sure Haagen Daaz Creme Brulee ice cream will fix it.

Gravatar Indeed. I also posted about the putting-my-kids-first, the realization I got when my oldest was born.

It's dharma.

Gravatar It's motherhood that drives women to insanity.

I like this post. Let's blame the kids and leave the fathers out of it.

I've been trying that for years.

Gravatar Speaking as the child here, I think you are absolutely right. I am amazed at the things mothers do for my peers its... amazing.
Go all you moms!

Gravatar Well said- all of it.

Gravatar I whole-heartedly concur ...

... but what's MY excuse?

Gravatar My dear friend, YOU know that I agree with almost everything you say and this is no exception. Now, it is your turn to agree with me when I say that YOU are one of the most deserving people for me to spotlight in the new Saturday re-visit.

I want ot thank you for always visiting each new site that I point you towards and I can think of no better way to say thank you then to once again say....

"Hello, Michele sent me."

Gravatar I've been reading your blog for a while now and you sound like da best mama ever.

Michele sent me today!!

Gravatar Oh, that was so well-said! (So now I can feel good about being nuts!)

Michele sent me over - this time.

Gravatar You are SO right. Of course. As always. And yes, "Michele sent me" because you are so sweet, and precious, and wonderful. And, of course, SHE'S always right, too. I SURE know how to pick great friends...

Gravatar It's "The beatings will continue until morale IMPROVES." Improves, not "increases".

Gravatar Oh that was SO lovely - a touching post. Becoming a mother for the first time 5 months ago I now realise that I would do every single thing that you wrote about - it is so true. Good mothers are crazy. I think you only fully understand what a mother does and what a mother means after you have a child of your own. There is nothing like it....

By the way, Michele sent me and I will be popping over a little more often now! Cheers

Gravatar Ok, now I feel oh so much better about being nuts!

I agree with everything you said....and you said it much better than I could have.

Oh....and Michele sent me!

Gravatar Michele sent me, and as usual I obey.

As for your entry: I would, too. I can't think of anything else to add.

(Or maybe I will once I do have children.)

Gravatar that is a great post! my brood are still driving me nuts mostly by providing broods of their own that i feel the need to protect

Gravatar Very well said. This would make a great Mother's Day repost.

Michele sent me, BTW.

Gravatar Hey hey - interesting post (I'm just surfing through).

BTW, Michele sent me.

Gravatar Hello Michele sent me... and while my mother is crazy...she's got nothing on HER mother..now grandma she WAS crazy

Gravatar Hey, Michele sent me today...and it was the perfect time to discover your blog. This "step in front of a train" feeling came over me the moment my first child was born, I think. It is indescribable to someone who hasn't experienced it. (and by that I don't just mean people without kids.)

Gravatar Michele sent me today. What a great post. I have given up all hopes of sanity now that I am a mother. I think in the beginning I just wasn't ready to let go and when I did, things got easier! I'm glad to be one of those crazy mothers!

Gravatar Perhaps it's not entirely insanity but the knowledge that "your time will come."

The kids do eventually move out and you do have time for all of the things people seem to think you've missed.

Then, they move back in. That's when you know for certain you are certifiably insane.
Oh, yeah.. Michele sent me.

Gravatar Great post -- one I should share with my Mom. She did put things like her career on hold so she could "be there for me," and I probably don't appreciate it nearly enough.

And, yes, Michele sent me.

Gravatar Great post. Made me think about my wife and how awesome of a mom she will be in less than four months.

Gravatar BTW>...Michele sent me.

Gravatar I would have said my mother was perfect, but she made me eat those brussel sprouts that time. But I like her any way. And yeah, the crazy Canadian gal sent me.

Gravatar HELLO MICHELE SENT ME
(but I come often on my own)...

Gravatar Frightening, but all true — the mindshift that occurs when you become a mother!

Gravatar Hi, Mamacita -- good morning.

I like your insight -- and it's put so well that I STILL want to be a mother some day

Gravatar great post. we are all a little crazy. comes with the job.

btw....hi! michele sent me!

Gravatar Hi, Michele sent me.... But I've been here before, and I'll be back again. Happy Saturday!

Gravatar "Hello, Michele sent me."

And "Hello, I love you, you crazy crazy Momma!"

x

Gravatar Hello......Michele sent me this morning but I probably would have dropped by any way. Love you place and posts...Have a great Saturday.

Gravatar Michele MADE me come back ...

... have you seen my shoes? I'm pretty sure I left them under your table ... Belle hasn't run off with them, has she?

-G

Gravatar What a great post---now what is my excuse, I wonder---does mothering a cat count...lol....Have a great day...By the way, Michele sent me.

Gravatar Today Michele sent me but I usually come on my own! :P

Gravatar "Hello, Michelle sent me."
and I'm glad that she did!

hmmm... I'm crazy & not a mother, except to a bunch of critters.

Your place is wonderful & I love the title!

Gravatar Hello there, Michele sent me. Good to revisit you.

Gravatar most definately. insanity is a job requirement. Humor is a necessary plus. but there's nothing better is there?

Gravatar Thank you. I no longer feel alone. Thanks for checking out my blog and leaving such a nice comment. I'll be baaack!

Gravatar Hello, Michele has re-sent me! I thought it was make-up work at first.

And I have to tell you I feel exceedingly vindicated by your post today! I've been saying for years that the only really good parents were the crazy ones. That's how I excuse my behavior.

Gravatar Hiya, love it as always. I'm here most every day but today is different. Today Michele sent me =)

Gravatar Michele sent me. I would have come on my own, though. Love your place.

Gravatar Hello, Michele sent me... and I must say I'm ever so glad. While reading your post I was struck with a thought regarding a current insane mother (me) and her strong willed daughter. I'm adamantly demanding that she audition for a performing arts school and she is determined to "bomb" her audition so she can go to school with her friends. We bicker a lot and at times I think to myself, "I must be crazy to go through this, but I just want what is best for her." What kind of mother puts herself in the line of a beligerent teen when she knows she will only get wounded? Yeah... that kind. Thanks!

Gravatar Greetings! A friend sent me the link to your site and suggested that I contact you.

My name is Ruth Mendelson. I am a composer (I score films for a living and teach Advanced Film Composition at Berklee College of Music in Boston)- deeply committed to aspects of Healing and Music.

Below is the link to my web site (featuring sound clips that download automatically and play as a loop):

http://www.ruthmendelson.com/

I originally composed the "Amazing Jellies" CD last winter for the New England Aquarium's exhibit re: jellyfish and saving the oceans.

Several months ago, a teacher who was visiting the exhibit was so taken by the music she wrote about it on an internet teachers forum, saying that it had the strong potential to help her students learn. Before I knew it, I was flooded with CD orders from teachers all across the US and Canada.

Since then, people of all ages and occupations are using this music as a medium for various aspects of healing and relaxation. Teachers, parents, children, nurses, the elderly, teens, those with autism and various sensory issues, psychotherapists, yoga instructors, massage therapists are all benefiting from this music. In general, the CD is being used for anything from helping children to focus in classrooms to adults recovering from surgery. Overall, the music is especially helpful in the areas of pain management and stress/anxiety reduction.

UCLA is now interested in doing a partner study with Mass General (here in Boston) with the CD re: monitoring reduction of pain levels in patients.

If there is anyone who feel could benefit from this music, would you mind passing on this link to them? The CD is serving many people at this point and has the potential to help several more.

Thanks and Blessings!

-Ruth Mendelson

Gravatar oh good. i feel much much better. earlier i was thinking of having myself committed and to hear that it's an asset to be a little left of sane is excellent news!
