Very nicely said. I have twenty-something children, 4 of them. They come and they go, but in my minds eye, they are still my babies and always near. The lesson I have learned with my kids is to let life happen and teach them to deal with the ups and downs. All you can ever do is arm them with the knowledge and be there if they need a little support. Thanks you for such a nice post.

Wonderful post! As a mother of young children, I hold them and almost cry knowing I can't protect them from scraped knees and bruised legs, hurt feelings and heart break. I KNOW I can't do it, and yet I so want to. But you are right. I mean, I've gone through all those things, and come out okay. A better person you might even say. It scares me to think about sending my kids out into the world of public school, and beyond. I put faith in the belief that when I get to each milestone in their lives, I will be ready for it, or at least equiped to deal with it.

Genuine asked me to fix your right sidebar, so I did.. I had to resize the comics, cause they were too big for the sidebar, but you can click on them to pull up a full-size image. And the Code Amber ticker is too wide, too, so I put it up top. I figured it was important enough that I shouldn't put it down at the bottom below all your posts.

What a terrific post. You brought tears to my eyes. What is it with these young 20-something males that makes them want to end their lives? So very very sad. Your daughter sounds delightful. You too, sound like an absolutely delightful mother. I hope my daughter grows up thinking the same of me....
