Tell me what you really think.

Gravatar There are times we all deserve to be shot.

That's where bubble guns come in handy.

Gravatar Mamacita - I couldn't agree more.

Gravatar We've all lost our sense of humor, Mamacita. Isn't it truly sad?

Gravatar maybe her daughter's green head was spinning and was like all projectile vomit and her voice was all weird and saying things like "your mother something something in hell"...yeah, you get the picture. I'm just saying, is all....

Nah, you're right, people have no appreciation of humour these days at all.

Gravatar I'd just like to absolve myself of all responsibility for the above comment.I can only put forward, by way of explanation, the two empty bottles of cab sav we enjoyed with dinner tonight. Oh ok, the bottle and a half that I enjoyed tonight.

Gravatar Hola', Amiga! Just checkin' in to say "I'm alive". Also, I couldn't agree with you more on this post, I loved your "Imperfect" post, and Van Morrison's "Someone Like You" is one of my fav's too--though you're on your own with William Shatner.

Well, off to work--(shop, of course...)

Have a great weekend! (Oh, and did you get all the "Missing" posters down? I'm still alive, just not blogging much. Hopefully I'll have more time this summer...).

Gravatar I dunno ... I don't think the dispatcher should be joking abou it in a serious job.

Gravatar And I don't think you should be calling 911 because you can't handle your own child! You have to have a license to be a pilot, drive a care, a teacher, a dentist, a nurse, a doctor etc. etc. But anyone can be a parent...take some effin responsibility for your kids and lighten up!

Sorry, this in immediate response to the comment above...pmsing again!

Gravatar Hear, Hear, Mamacita

Gravatar That cracked me up!! If your kid is out of control, well, learn to control her! What did she think 911 was going to do? Ground her? Take away her priviledges?!

Gravatar Ugh, I hate people who take advantage of other people. it's obvious it was a joke and it's obvious that lady shouldn't have been calling in the first place. Ugh, It makes me sick...

Gravatar Exactly what would your teenage child need to be doing to merit dialing 911?

The shooting question would have grounded me a bit, and put some perspective on it. Then, I would have either insisted on assistance or laughed and apologized for taking up a line somebody dying might have needed.

But then, I didn't call, did I?

Gravatar Hey there! Michele sent me! Come say HI to me!

Gravatar Sad to have to call in the first place. Control that child better is what I say. Now if the child were doing something violent that would be a different story...by all means...call. I don't think the dispacher response was 100% correct...that was a mom in distress for whatever reason.

Gravatar Well, it *is* funny at first glance, but what if the girl was about to harm herself or another? Then it's not so funny.

Have y'all heard the tape of the woman calling 911 cuz she couldn't get her bacon cheeseburger done right?

Gravatar Hang on, this happened near Ft. Worth, Tx. You can't be sure they were joking unless they actually laughed afterward (and even then it's a good idea to check)

My philosophy is don't call the cops unless you don't mind somebody getting shot, at least a little bit.

Gravatar It reminds me of the way some parents will threaten their kids with the police. "If you're not good, the policeman will come and get you." It infuriates me-- cause kids need to trust the police if they're ever in trouble. I once spoke to a policeman about that and he said when he hears it (not if, when) he always says something to the parents. But I'm sure at that stage it doesn't help, just serves to reinforce the kids' fear of the cops.

I can understand the frustration at a teenage daughter out of control. And I also think.. well, who do you call at that point? But I think if it's gotten to that point, you've probably missed a few parenting opportunities in the past.

And I feel for the dispatcher, cause it sounds like something I would say (I've gotten in trouble for people not getting me before... like the time someone asked me "How do you get to ::insert restaurant name here::" and I said (re: old Carnegie Hall joke) "Practice!" My boss looked at me like I was insane, and I died laughing for hours. (Still giggling, in fact.)
