Tell me what you really think.

Gravatar Hmmm, let's see... that would make me the village ... uhm ... the village ... I'm really trying to avoid that I word, ya' know?

-G

Gravatar I'm sorry, but that position has been filled. Besides, I don't think you are quite qualified for that one.

Gravatar What a nice post! I have a village here for me too, and now I find there's one in the blog world too!

Gravatar Does that make us Village People?

Dibs on the hardhat.

WF

Gravatar You mean it's not-- "It takes two to make a village"?! ;~)

Seriously, you are one of the www (wisest women on the web), Mamacita!

Gravatar Excellent post... I'll donate my transmogrifier to the village, once I get all the cardboard painted, of course.

Gravatar You're right. And it's not just the advice, but the commiseration. And it's not just one country, but a whole lot of them. For the first time, people in about half the world can speak directly to each other. It makes me want to learn every language there is and just start typing.

With the transmogrifier you could make many Mamacitas.

What about the student reviews? Huh? Huh? We wanna know.

Gravatar This was an amazing post girlfriend! You always make me see things in a different abd better way making the ordinary extraordinary. It's a gift ya know...

And I am so down with Wes, if we are the village people I got dibs on the cowboy hat! I just iTuned Save a Horse...Ride a Cowboy by Big & Rich.
LOL!

BTW, I love your mixes! Now that I have my new computer I can burn CD's again- woohoo! It has been so long that I feel out of the music loop. We are going to have do a swap or something. You need to enlighten my musical tastes- I didn't know half of the songs on your mix. (my bad!)

(((hugs)))

Gravatar Although I can't relate to the childraising aspect of your post, I can totally relate to feeling of being part of a community thats there for you... I've only been blogging for about a month - and I honestly can't imagine being without it for even HALF of a day lol - it's crazy, but it's exactly what I was missing ( apart from boatloads of cash and such stuff )

... my point being, yes - you're right

Chris.

Gravatar This is one of the reasons I love your blogs. I love to hear the stories of when your kids were little. I love that you made mistakes and you are living proof that kids will still love you anyway. And they turned out better than alright! There is hope for mine yet!

Thanks for sharing all of the past and present stories of Belle and Zappa. It gives me hope that it will all turn out ok.

Gravatar What an absolute great post! I'm going to link it.

You're a gem

Gravatar I'll say it again and again....I love you! Can you be my neighbor?? I think we would enjoy sitting out in the backyard drinking iced tea while my children ran amuck! I would say let's meet at your place but after that snake story in your backyard...I'm not sure I was to man the snake hole!! (giggle..snicker snort!!
Oh and by the way...I want to wear the leather police type outfit!! YAHOO LET'S DRESS UP!

Gravatar This might not be the best time or place to mention that I once wrote a unit on the parts of speech to the tune of "YMCA." Complete with dance moves.

Gravatar Oh Mama...I would pay money to see and hear that!!

Gravatar What a lovely post! Thank you for sharing with us.

Gravatar Oh no, no, no, you're NOT droppin' a bomb like THAT in your comments and getting away with it. C'mon, spill the YMCA song.

Gravatar So so true! And sometimes when we're lucky we even get to meet the members of our village.

Gravatar This is so true honey, unfortunately for me, when my kids were really young it felt more like we lived in a trailor park than a village and all the locals were drunk... Scary place and scary times I tell ya...

Gravatar You're right, that's the beauty of it - we can pick and choose our own village!

I was blessed with a good "village" (was going to say "like-minded", but this word somehow reminds me of zombies) when my kids were very young. There was a large group of us who had kids about the same age, and shared parenting ideas. It was a very tough time physically and financially, and without my "village", I never would've made it. Then we moved... I'm happy where I am now, but I sure do miss the village.

There are a number of people in the blogosphere whose posts I learn from daily, though they do not know it. You are of course one of them!

Gravatar Amazing post that totally sums up why I started blogging - felt isolated being a stay-at-home-mom, needed to feel connected to others, and wanted to be able to ask for opinions and not see them laugh at me for asking such a dumb question!

Our is quite a fantastic village!

Gravatar Yay!!!

I love it when I agree so well with somebody I hardly know...

This represents so closely my feelings on the matter, it's scary; thank you for writing it.

It is odd how I (who so not like the idea of globalization when it comes to politics and economics) can feel so strongly this is the right way to to with something so personal as parenting. But it is TRUE.

The bad part is that it's mostly mothers giving me advice--and it's not bad cuz it's bad advice, but i am trying to keep a semi-butch image with the kids... it's bad enough i'm gay, you know... can't go around being girly, too.

But seriously, abou that YMCA song...

can I be the Indian?

I'll bring my own feathers...

no... it's not a boa.

YOU ARE TOO COOL!!! THANKS.

Gravatar I love this post. I have been feeling quite the same way lately. The deeper I get into blogging- the more connected I feel. I really do treasure some of the friendships I have made through blogging. Funny how just a year ago I had no idea...

BTW- Michele sent me

Gravatar Thank you, Mamacita. My feelings exactly; you've said it so well.

I've been visiting with you for many weeks now and enjoying getting to know you. Thanks for all you share and for your insights. It's sometimes amazing to know that I have so much in common with individuals from all parts of the country, and the world for that matter. At the same time, it's wonderful to be able to learn and to get a new or slightly differing perspective on things from those same individuals. How refreshing this world can be!
