=snort= "This first part is really hard. You have to read words."
Those poor boys. Having to read!
We'll be in the theater on Monday, popcorn in hand, squirming excitedly in our seats as the previews end and the lights go dark. And when they do, if the Boy comes with us, surely the Souse Thingy will breathe in his pseudo-Vader voice "Curt..I am your faaaaaaattthher..."

My son saw it today - and he reported that there were no lines.
Of course, he saw it in a multiplex where they'd devoted five screens to it...
He also reports that it is 'scary' and 'sad' and not at all appropriate for his little sister (who is normally fearless & turns seven this week.)

You know THE John Orman?
Impressed I am. (See, I'm doing it in a Yoda voice to keep the comment topical).
Saw the movie today. Not bad.

You know John? Their daughter Natalie was Sara's roommate at IU. I've known John and Irene for years. Irene and I worked together at Orleans H.S. They are hilarious and awesome people; simply lovely good friends. He's allergic to cats.

I loved it too, and it was part of my past that I treasured. I enjoy sci-fi, but I was crazy about it back then. Star Trek, Star Wars, it really didn't matter.

Happy I am to report that lines there are.
Ok, stop that! I really shouldn't do that... it's too much fun... I remember seeing Star Wars when it opened, too--in Spanish-- ha ha ha ha!
So, this one's ok, if you can get past the third grade play acting in it. And the writer must have been in 5th--he probably writes for Newsweek. Still, I liked the movie.

I loved Star Wars. I bought my son every toy that came out. sigh I wish I still had those toys, they're worth a fortune now!! Alas, the force that destroyed them were firecrackers, a ball bat, a BB gun, and leaving them out where the demon lawn mower chewed them up.

I am scared to report....
I have never seen any Star Wars movie beyond the first and I only have a vague memory of that one. You will not send the force after me, will you?
I love this post. Coming soon to a conversation near me will be the phrase "The first part is really hard. You have to read words."

YES! Darph Nader! I would have voted for him! I'm glad someone else knows this parody. I have very fond memories of nursing #1 child through Return of the Jedi- he was only two weeks old- so I know it was May 25 years ago- and hadn't come awake yet so it was still safe to take him to the movies. Rather than wait in line for this one BCMA is taking this afternoon out for lunch and a viewing of The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill. Can't wait.
Thanks for another fun read.

I did not go to see the star wars movie but my stepson did and he said it was good. On the way home from the movie another kid hit him and his friend from behind. I guess the guy was not looking. They both were headed home after the movie when the accident happened.

Awesome it was, yes, mmm.
Much fear there is, much anger and hate. To the Dark Side these things will lead.
I've already seen it twice and I just got started.

I WANT TO GO SEE IT SO BBBAAADD! BUT we have little munchins so that means no movie until DVD because who has time? Not me.
I wanted to camp out to get to see the first showings. GGRRR. Dang kids! They make me grow up all the time!
OH and PS...I was in the toy phase when the first one came out. I still take out Luke and Vader just for fun. My favorites are the Ewoks. (spelled that horribly)Yoda was the man though and I thought Luke could just take me away to dreamy romatic land. *sigh

If any of you surf blogs through Blog Explosion do NOT read Lewie's Blogs. He spoiled it all for me by saying something in his blog entry that was probably a real important part of the movie.
I love star wars and I have since I first saw the original trilogy at the movie theatre when I was a little girl and I'm absolutely devastated that I know something so important before I've even seen it.

Vicki must be thinking of "The Empire Strikes Back" 25 years ago in May--I remember waiting in line to see it the week I graduated from college (of course, I'm old enough now that I went to IMDB to make SURE that was the movie I saw then!).
I still have to see Attack of the Clones before I can see this one. So I think the lines will have gone down.

star wars almost always means enjoyable theatre unless you happened to sit, like the dad and i did at the very first one, in front of a little cretin whose parents must have loaded him up with enough cash to see every show for the entire weekend. said cretin jumped in EVERY single time, saying, "here's the part where he comes back and finds his aunt and uncle burned up," and likewise SPOILING EVERY scene untiil we finally went back and got an usher. the usher made his little speech, and the cretin (who was sporting a broken arm- for obvious reasons) sneered at us, "i can say whatever i WANT to!" so we moved, can you say annoying?

Hi Mama....just stopped by to say hello. I am waiting to savor ROTS "line free" as well; though I haven't attained your respectable post in life, I have no patience for waiting in lines either. When IKEA opened in Minneapolis, there were actually lines of people waiting to go in and buy - a capitalist epiphany, even for well-heeled and well-shopped MPLS. Also, a personal epiphany for me - it was so absurd, I decided I'm done with waiting in line to fork over my hard-earned dough.

anniebird,
you don't have to wait in line... i'll give you my snail-mail address and you can send as much of your hard-earned dough as you'd like--line free!!!
See how I sacrifice myself for your mental well-being?
