Tell me what you really think.

Gravatar I've never gotten a speeding ticket either. *knocks on wood*

Gravatar I've gotten exactly one speeding ticket. I was clocked 40 in a 30 (in Seymour, Indiana - given the traffic patterns, I agree with your belief that the police turn on their lights and hope someone pulls over). Inasmuch as I was with traffic, I paid the fine but pled nolo contendere. My little slap at the Man, if you will.

One of those speeding school buses wouldn't be my brother, would it?

WF

Gravatar You HAVE to drive the speedlimit in Indiana... the cops have nothing better to do than write tickets since all the good donut shops closed.

Gravatar I had one speeding ticket, for going 55 in a 45 zone. It snuck up on me.

Good post, and I hope it makes a difference somewhere!

Gravatar I'm in the slow lane with you.

Gravatar I have driven through Ind., and there are cops everywhere!
P.S., I drive the speed limit too, and I laugh at people who get caught (the people who have sped past me, shaking their heads in disgust).

Gravatar Yeah, what is the deal with no seat belts on school busses, anyway? "Click it or Ticket!" and car seat laws don't apply to bus companies because....what, busses are immune to accidents? I've never understood that glaring omission of safety.

And I love your spedometer image. Hawr!

Gravatar I agree on the speed limit. But, it's a good way to get run over!

I misseed one question last Friday on the North Carolina driving written test: how long to cook grits in a semi's cab if the gun rack is empty. Missed that in My Cousin Vinny.

Gravatar speed up then slowpoke!

Gravatar The only speeding ticket I've ever gotten was on my way home to MI after visiting friends in Bloomington. And I deserved it.

Gravatar HEY you kidding me..anyone driving 55 on the freeways now will get run over..literally. Being from Michigan and driving in Indiana I can tell you they drive fast down there..watch your bumpers..I prefer the backroads in all seasons much more leisurely drive ..better scenery for sure..I don't have to watch some joker give me the finger for going too slow! This site rocks!!!

Gravatar I know that I drive too fast, especially in 25's. My daughter just got her license and the worst part for me was all the driving with her while she had her permit and ALWAYS going JUST the speed limit!

Gravatar I've been on a few business trips to Indiana and the cop... er, traffic police officers there are vicious! Or so I've been told. Apparently, they drive around in regular cars, just any old make/model/color, you'd never know it's a police car, until the siren comes on.

I drive 9 over (or at least, try to), this seems to be acceptable in our neck of woods... 60-65 is the speed limit here.

I did have five tickets at one point in time, but they're gone from my record by now. Once, I actually got a warning. I carry it in my wallet for good luck.

Gravatar It's weird, but driving my volvo I'm always driving the limit. Driving my wife's celica, I'm 20 over the limit.

go figure.

Gravatar You cannot drive 55 around here. You'll be killed. Seriously.

My general rule is to go as fast as MOST of the traffic (which is generally 65-70). Even so, if you do 70 in the left lane, someone will be up your ass.

I was nearly killed recently on the Merritt Parkway. I was doing about 70 in the left lane, saw someone barreling up behind me so I signaled to move to the right lane. However, he decided to pass me on the RIGHT.... had I not quickly moved back left I would have been creamed.

I try to go the speed limit on the windy side roads, but even then people will drive INCHES behind me. Drives me crazy. No pun intended.

Gravatar I tend to drive 65 on Hwy 37...ack...You talkin bout me? I have had 3 tickets in 3 year's time but that was nearly 2 years ago (when I got my last one. It owuld drop off in December...yea...no more hight risk...oh wait. My daugher (16 yrs old and driving 5 months) just wrecked my car and it was her fault. 2 more years of high risk which is when my OTHER daugher gets her license. Me thinks the X should me the one to insure her!!!

So interesting to note...did you know that there are MORE police cars in LAwence County (Bedford) than Monroe COunty (Bloomington)? It is true!

Gravatar the speed limit on most highways around here in 65. and even THAT isn't fast enough for me. I know what you're thinking....DAMN KIDS!!!

Gravatar Dam,you had to talk about Indiana speeding tickets. I just today mailed out the $170.00 fine for speeding. I guess I would have read in between shut eyes and stop. You know you people out west their drive real slow.I thought the left lane was for passing not doing 55...

Gravatar Wow... 55... that's slow. Atlanta's speed limit is 70, and people here treat that as a suggestion, not a commandment. Most cars can be found doing 85 or more on the Interstates. It's no wonder they call one highway the "Atlanta Autobahn".

BTW - Michele sent me!

Gravatar Even if I hadn't come inches close to my car's tush being clobberred earlier this evening, or its sides being smashed in by impatient drivers roaring up on my right, then speeding past almost necessitating a nose job for same car, or........ those same idiots blaring there horns at me as they zip past illegally speeding and turning off the parkway without signalling or lookinggggg....even it that wasn't enough to scare the caca out of my 15 yr old who knows she'll learn to drive soon....even if I hadn't seen this post, I'd be cheering you on telepathically.

I think fast, I type fast, I walk fast, I multi-task fast, but I drive the speed limit and follow traffic laws because safety is paramount. Also, to all those who do NOT slow down for school areas, blind or deaf pedestrians, shopping areas, blind curves, etc where it's marked to go even slower, I wish you all would work in an real ER room one night of your life, so you can see how precious LIFE is.

Those few seconds you save, can mean precious lifetimes taken away forever from innocent ohters like mamacita says.
