Tell me what you really think.

Gravatar I'm happy for all your wonderful memories of your Dad. Tonight I am mourning mine too, with tears in my eyes and warmth in my heart.

The people I feel sorry for never knew their fathers. I tell myself I wouldn't miss him so if he hadn't been such a wonderful man.

Gravatar I'm so sorry for your loss. One of the toughest things is to watch someone we love go through such horrors. I'm so glad you had him and have good memories.
I agree with MaxedOutMama, there are many who never know their fathers or have bad memories of the one they knew.
I'm just grateful to know two of you had wonderful dads and so sorry they both have gone on...

Gravatar I am glad your memories are so strong, of your REAL father. I had a real father too, before emphysema. Those good memories are so precious!

Gravatar Hi Mamacita, I've been meaning to come by forever, and your first post just stunned me to tears!

That is a beautiful tribute. I'm so sorry about your dad.

Gravatar Thanks on behalf of a good dad for sharing your memories of your good dad. That was a nice fitting tribute, and I'm sure he's proud of you.

Gravatar A nice tribute to your dad! I tried to comment on your last post but couldn't. I am in the no sleep postion right now and am miserable, thanks for the post, I needed to read that!

Gravatar I have been where you are now and it is hard to even put into words..but you did it beautifully. Thank GOD for our memories..they sustain us when we are sad and weak and empty.
God bless you...

Gravatar Nicely said, Mamacita. I got a similar: Mind's eye picture of my Dad standing beside his red pickup truck. Hard to remember him any other way.

Gravatar Well it is, that you recall the real man and not allow his corrupted state to draw for you a final image of who he is. You were lucky enough to have a special father who passed along the wonderful blessings of who he was to you. Thank you for sharing a bit about him with us.

Gravatar I remember when Uncle Harvey passed away. At first, they put him in a suit and tie, and it just didn't look right.

So they put him in his favorite pair of jeans and a work shirt.

THAT was the Uncle Harvey we all knew.

Gravatar Beautiful tribute for your dad. And thank you for sharing such lovely memories and the picture.

Gravatar What a perfect way to commemorate Father's Day - thanks for sharing!

Gravatar What a beautiful tribute to your dad... and how fond those memories must be. I hope my own children will have such fond memories as well.

Gravatar What a great way to remember your Dad. He was very loved. That is obvious. Thanks for sharing his picture.

I made your corn bread yesterday and it was a big hit! Thanks

Gravatar I was very close to my dad. I lost him last year to cancer. Do you know how many blogs I've looked at, searching for just ONE positive thing about a dad on Father's Day??? Unbelievable. Yours is the only one I've found. Thanks for the good word. Sorry about your loss. I feel your pain because I know your pain.

Gravatar Sorry to hear about your dad

Gravatar Beautiful tribute, Mamacita!

My big brother has diabetes, but he has it under control.

Gravatar He is a handsome man!
When my grandmother got sick she and my grandfather came to live with me. I was 26 at the time. It was wonderful. Hard but wonderful.
When my grandmother passed away I went to the viewing to say goodbye. I remember looking at her and seeing that she didn't look the same. She was missing something. I stared harder and tried to remember her younger and vibrant. Then it hit me. She was missing the kleenex stuffed in her bra and sleeve for her drippy nose. I took the liberty and shoved a few in her sleeve and down her bra. Funny thing....everyone else who saw her after that snickered and remembered the same thing as well.
Kind of funny. Sick but funny!!
