Tell me what you really think.

Gravatar OMG, I am laughing hysterically. We are going to see Batman this weekend...prolly Saturday. AND if you were in the local theater of our hometown, then that add is the place my X-wife worked (although she is not in that particular ad). I was laughing the entire time I rad this because I felt the same way. I don't think I should pay to see ads...UGH!

Gravatar I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT!

Gravatar I love your synapsis - it makes me want to see the movie.

And I so agree about the commercials in the theatre. They so piss me off.

Gravatar I agree about the theatre ads. Advertised start time in the paper says 7, but once all the damn Coke and Verizon etc ads run, it is 7.20.. I have started closing my eyes now until the film starts. At least only one of my senses has to be assaulted

Gravatar Me too - cannot, but just cannot, wait to see it.

Gravatar My kids summed it up pretty well one time when the ads started:

"Can't we just fast-forward to the movie?"

There's a reason we rent movies, after all.

And to me, Mr. Mom will always be Batman. None of the others have come close (although I liked Pfeiffer as Catwoman). I'll have to check this out.

Gravatar I'm dying to see that movie, but I'm so sad I'll have to miss the MONDO ad. (It IS Mondo, isn't it? LOL)

Gravatar At the Big Chain Theater we go to, prior to the movie, in fact, prior to the previews, they run something called "The Twenty". It is basically 20 minutes of promotional material (clips, interviews, ads for cable and broadcast TV shows, etc.) At the end of The Twenty, the voiceover says, "Did you miss any of The Twenty? Next time, get to the theater early so you don't miss out!" Yeeeah, I'll get right on that.

Gravatar I do need to see that movie. I'll probably wait for it to come out on DVD and rent all the Batman movies at once.

I usually do that with trilogies and such.

When the last (or third) Star Wars comes out on DVD we'll sit and watch all six in order.

Oh yeah...your interview is up today.

Gravatar Loved Batman...and I'm an odd one. I'll gladly suffer the commercials because they're what keep the ticket prices from hitting $15. Blame guys like George Lucas, whose distribution deals get them 100% of the ticket take for the first 30 days of theater play. Those distribution deals are why concessions are so freaking high, too. I can live with a few commercials if it means I pay a little less to get in...

I feel a little gypped that we don't have any local commercials here. It would be fun to have something to howl about before the movie starts

Gravatar What is also disconcerting is if you wait until after the credits and see the henious ads and trivia facts they run.

Yes. I know, anyone who sits there that long DESERVES to see that...

But still.

Henious.

Gravatar I ain't a goin' to this one, but I'm tickled to see that you mentioned Myoshi Umeki! I remember her on The Courtship Of Eddie's Father! (Now, hand me some Geritol.)

Gravatar I haven't seen Batman begins yet, however I am really excited to see it. As for the commercials before the movies, I actually enjoy them being there because it allows me and my friends to make fun of the cheap aspects of each of them. ... not to mention the fact that one of them (a company nearby) has a person, in the commercial, named "holly wood"..perfect name to be displayed in a theatre.

Though, why else would they be there..other than, perhaps, to lighten up the dark movies? and keep the kids entertained by fixing their eyes on the screen?

Gravatar Yeah, I want to see the movie and I HATE the commercials in the theater. I would never patronize any of them. I also hate the fliers in magazines and newspaper fillers.

Gravatar You're funny.

Apparently, according to my comics-obsessed teen aged son, they didn't change the story line. This is canon for Batman. It goes back to the first comics.

Glad you enjoyed it. I'm seeing it this weekend. And I appreciate the review.

Gravatar Ummmmm, so you thought Alfred was awsome!

Gravatar I've been to the multiplexes in My Old Stamping Ground precisely one time, when Wayne Hardesty (I've got to track him down - last I heard he was married and still living in Chicago) and I popped in to see one of the James Bond movies. It was some holiday weekend, and I had to Get Out Of The House for some non-family time, so I called Wayne for some hangoutage. The Shoney's was still The Shoney's back then, if that gives you any indication of the timeline.

I'll be home a little this weekend; might accidentally pop in on Saturday.

Gravatar Batman rocks!!!

Also, play the game on PS2, it's really good and recreates the movie atmosphere pretty well. Check out the screenshots from the game on my Photo Album!

Gravatar first, they put 1/2 hrs of commercials before the movie--even though one PAYS to go there...

then they complain that we're downloading them without paying...

what is fair, anyway?

Gravatar I guess the only thing I'm not clear about is whether or not Alfred was any good.

Gravatar I think I'll wait a bit before going to see Batman, in hopes that the crowds thin out and I can get away with showing up 10 minutes after the scheduled start in order to miss the adverts and previews.

Gravatar Loved your review! I need to know if it's really dark and not suitable for the smaller kids though. I have heard from one or two that the bat cave scenes are scarey to little ones like 7 or 8 years old. They think they have a handle on it, but then they don't. Wonder what the rating is anyway. I guess I can look it up! Thanks!!!!

Gravatar I know! When I was living in England the movies had ads and I was like, WTF? I was feeling all smooshy about the US bc we didn't do that! Now we suck just like the British movies. GAH!

Gravatar batman begins was great...i love comic book movies but this one was much better than the genre has ever produced before...quality movie, quality actors, e.g. caine and freeman...i was stunned...and it didn't hurt that i absolutely adore bale

Gravatar But what did you think of Michael Caine?

Great review!

Might have to see this one! thanks!

Gravatar I loved Batman Begins, We have one theater here that makes a promise that it will never show a commercial before a movie. So--guess where I always go to watch movies? Yep.

Gravatar I used to have a major stalker thing for Kurt Russell, now Christian Bale has stolen my heart. Oh, of course I am married and all that, but that man in a cape, YUMMY!
The story was great, the kids LOVED it. The only flaw was the discrepancy in who killed Bruce's parents, remember the first movie with Michael Keaton? "Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?" Anyway, great movie, great review, and as always, YOU ARE A GREAT BLOGGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gravatar Haven't seen "Batman Begins" but I know comics. The original killer was named Joe Chill.

Recently saw "Revenge of the Sith" in the theaters, but was laughing at that movie so hard that I don't remember any local ads that didn't involve a church.

Those sucked, but non-profs get more respect for that stuff from me.
