In the book If It Ain't Baroque: More Music History As It Ought To Be Taught, the author (David Barber) writes that Switched-On Bach was a "reworking" of Bach pieces for synthesizer by Walter Carlos.
In a footnote, Barber writes "Walter Carlos is now Wendy Carlos, having been somewhat reworked herself."

My favorite track on Clockwork Orange is the opening cello choir section from the William Tell overture. It is sublime, but, alas, cannot compete with the earwormish Lone Ranger theme!

I HAVE a copy (vinyl) of Switched-on Bach. Maybe the wig he wore in the cover art was for real?! I guess I'm showing my growth rings too.
I played an excerpt from S-OB for my class this past May. They laughed far too much - whippersnappers didn't realize how IMPORTANT that album was when it came out.
