I always loved this story. I can't wait for the movie; saw the trailers and they were great.
In Jurassic Park when the guy put the drop of water on the girl's hand, it always reminded me of this story. The chaos thing, you know.

The perfect post to come back to! I missed you while I was in an internet coma. I liked Ray Bradbury and read my way through lots of his stories (my personal favorite was The Illustrated Man) so thanks for posting this.
And as I'm playing catch-up I'm wondering if you have a euphemism for children who constantly lose their textbooks? I need it...

This story first grabbed me when my older brother (B) had it in his 8th grade lit book.
Then I had the same book 3 years later, and still loved the story.
And now it's 20 years later, and I still love it.

I remember reading this in one of my mum's books of his short stories when I was a kid.
I didn't know they were making it into a film. I dread to think what they'll have done to it to spin it out for a whole film... I Robot anyone?

I tried to find a copy of The Illustrated Man for my pre-teen daughter a couple of years ago. --I was looking for the short story about getting new "tennis shoes." Couldn't find it on the shelves of the local bookstore, or library. Finally found a used copy, which I had to order from somewhere. Same scenario for books by Albert Payson Terhune, and I STILL can't find William Saroyan's "My Name is Aram." Those books were everywhere when I was a kid. Back in Olden Days.

2006?? Someone's being optimistic.
The dead butterfly's rather freaky, though.
Some stories are too real.

Will read story when I have time.
Love the 2006 date.

Thanks for sharing the ridiculous to the sublime. Truth is stranger than science fiction, sometimes. I'm going to read the Bradbury story aloud to my teenagers tonight...they still enjoy that!

The old "butterfly causing the hurricane" gambit. Too predictable.

I love the story and can't wait to see what they've done with it in the movie.
Trying not to get my hopes up too high, though, have you seen what they call "movies" these days?
