We were just talking today about teaching college instead of MS. That if they don't make the grade they are kicked out. A colleague even told me about some guy who was being ignorant during the class. The teacher blasted him and kicked him out.
So, what did you say....

I am dying to know what you said! I'm sure that even if it was politically incorrect, it was completely appropriate. I'd also guess that your other students were glad you blasted the guy. Imbecile!

I can't stand the suspense, and for what it's worth, it sounds like he deserved it.
OH, please tell me you gave him the dental floss treatment...wait, that's me. Did you scald him with your heated words? Were his ears singed by your ferocious attack? Are there fingerprints left at the scene?

I need to hear what you said before I can pass judgement, though I'm hard pressed to imagine anything that would have been worse than what he did.
Besides, if it was impressive enough I might need it myself sometime.

I don't think there's a jury alive that would convict you. To be that age and acting like that is utter nonsense. Of course, the grading pen is mightier than the spit wad, so several zeroes ought to do the trick.

Once a boy of about 16 was playing basketball on our driveway with our son. He bullied him a bit and I went to the door and hollered out for him to stop it or go home. He said "Kiss my ass". I still cannot believe my answer: "It looks too much like your face".
I learned after that from the neighborhood kids that he had respect for me after that, because I stood up to him. Maybe the guy in your class will respect you too.

You MUST tell us all now! The suspense is painful! Maybe he deserved it, you know, a swift verbal kick in the butt to get him back on track as an adult!

I hope you berated him fiercely and publicly. If his feelings were hurt, good. Screw him. He should know better. Why should you have to stand for behavior from an adult that you wouldn't accept from a teenager?

There's a client at my agency (not MY client, TG), same age as me (44), on her 8th DUI, driving on a revoked license and rolls up on her days in her pimped-out ride with the gold rims and boom stereo shaking the windows (not just to the dismay of our staff but also to the annoyance of the dentist's office to the left and the broker's office to the right), and lingers with her stereo ka-booming for 5 or 10 minutes. Then walks in with a shit-eating grin at her sense of being BAAAAAAAD.
A woman who just finished 9 months in county jail and whose children have all started serving time.
Puerile behavior knows no limits.
