Tell me what you really think.

Gravatar Do I know the mother or either daughter?

WF

Gravatar I sure hope no teachers ever referred to me like that - or had cause to. I only complained once, when the principal had assigned my 3rd child to a teacher the 2nd child had not liked (for good reason). He refused to change her to another class, and she made it through okay, but with fear and trepidation. I'm sure glad those days are over for me. I know that teachers have it very rough wtih some mothers, so I feel for you too.

Gravatar Satanella shows up in my office a couple times a year dragging her child with her and reports that "all the teachers are mean to her daughter" and it's just because her daughter is so incredibly intelligent and misunderstood. And although her daughter has no problem whatsoever she needs to be in therapy because of the mean teachers. That would be you, kiddo.
Then she proceeds to tell me how to do therapy.

Gravatar I think Satanella started a second family and moved to Texas. And now your school is the perfect one.

Gravatar I think every school has at least one.

Poor kids.

Gravatar Oh, you're lucky you only had to face her at school. Mine lived down the street from me and blocked me in my driveway once while my elderly mother stood in the dark freezing night so she could ask me about a minor assignment from two weeks previously.

She also pulled into my driveway in August and claimed that I should go back and change her daughter's grade from the previous year because "she turned in that book report that you graded as a zero."

One of my APs finally told her to stay off my property, which helped since she wouldn't listen to my polite requests along the same line.

Gravatar Wow...it never ceases to amaze me what parents will do. I have had to go to the school only one 3 occasions. 2 of those over bullying of my son because of my sexuality. THe other was when my oldest forgot to put her name on her paper. The teacher announced to the kids that the child that didn't get her paper back was getting a zero for the day and tore the paper up and then walked to my daugher's desk and laid the shreds of paper on my daughter's desk. I thought that was extreme and met with the principal. We met with the teacher and principal together and it was resolved. The teacher DID apologize and admitted that she had had a bad day due to some other situations.

I would hate to be known as the parent from hell!

Gravatar I've been teaching mostly elementary schools since 1962. I can attest without doubt that the very worst parents I have had to deal with were the parents who were teachers!
The subject alway becomes your teaching failures instead of their childs failures.

In fairness, many of the best parents were also teachers.

Gravatar A lot of the people I work with in educational publishing are former teachers. And just about 100% of these people left teaching because of the parents.

It seems that no amount of normal parents can make up for the damage wrought by a few crazy ones.

Gravatar It's so very sad for the kids of mothers (and sometimes fathers) from hell. I think the worst part is the message these kids receive, which is that educators are not worthy of respect. I always try to be a little nicer to these children in hopes that my kindness might undo a little bit of the dammage. Don't get me wrong; I'm not a suck-up. I do a pretty good job of standing my ground with horrible parents. Thank goodness I have a supportive administrator who can see intimidating parents for what they really are: bullies.

Gravatar I have a few moms(and dads) like that. Nothing is ever my darling child's fault, everyone picks on him/her, it's not his/her fault, blah, blah, blah...
