On our first anniversary (41 yrs. ago, I was anticipating a wonderful surprise for that date. Lo and behold, mr. kenju's ancient aunt and uncle came to visit from NYC and took us out to eat. I tried not to resent the fact that I had to spend my first anniversary with them - and realizing that we ate in a fabulous place we could have never afforded helped to assuage my glumness.
Go interrupt your husband's math lesson with a bottle of brandy. That would be "right."

And good luck finding that movie. I recall one online video place that has old movies when I was searching for a copy of the old western, "The Winning of Barbara Worth" (book by the same author, Harold Bell Wright, as the famous Ozark's story, "Shepard of the Hill's," which starred a young John Wayne.) IF I find it, I'll let you know.

Only you would appreciate the web site I found. HG has been struggling in Math. I found a site that does games and flashcards on line. Her grade...improved from a C to a B-. Hopefully to improve even more.

I TOTALLY remember that movie too! In fact, I was just googling that phrase about the stone being bright because it's the only part I remember about that movie. But 2 girls fell into a well - one was bad and one was good. They ended up in this trippy dreamland where all these scenarios needed action, like remember the apple tree, so laden with apples but no one would pick them? A moaning and groaning apple tree. Scary. And all those babies and an old woman needing help caring for them. Pies burning in the oven and calling because no one would take them out. Of course the mean girl did nothing but the nice girl helped out. In a Cinderella-like ending, a prince was checking gems from a long line of girls to find the right girl. The right girl would have a stone that shone brightly in his presence. I want that movie!
