Not that long ago when the teenage son was being rotten and uncooperative my husband called his father, apologized, and asked him to lift the curse. It didn't work. I was much too good as a child to pay for his mistakes.
Thank you for reminding me today of all days (when the children are acting out) that they are indeed treasures. I do treasure this time.
My mother's curse is just now lifting. The child is currently twenty one 
Usually by the time you reach the point where you are wishing you hadn't wished their childhood away -life gives you grandchildren!!
My mom cursed me as a teenager, but now she recants or at least tries to help me out. The effects still linger, but it's nice to have someone to laugh, for instance, when my toddler son climbs his rocking chair to stand on the ledge of my living room window: sigh.

One of my very good friends, his kids grown now, is always rebuking me when I complain about having to drive my daughter around to all her lessons and appointments. He says he'd give anything to go back to those times.
Kinda makes ya think...
YES! No joy like motherhood. Mine are 22 & 16, almost done... one out, one with a year left. I haven't yet seen "empty nest syndrome" as I still have the "baby...at 6'2") still home, but I have enjoyed every day...(now that I look back).
