Tell me what you really think.

And this is why I ate McDonalds on Valentine's Day. Because even though I personally think the screaming, wailing and thrashing during mealtime is adorable, I respect that other couples might not have cherubs. And they might want to eat and talk, and not have their eardrums burst!

Okay, you are freaking me out. I just posted about a really bad kid, and why it's the parent's fault for not disciplining her.
Are you in my mind?

Well, mine were only nearly perfect. That aside, agreed. Absolutely. Today there was a toddler wandering around on the altar during church, headed for the bread and wine, before an adult- not the parent- intervened. I just didn't quite know what to make of all that. I mean, I did, but I couldn't say it in church.

Amen! I just posted this story a coupla' days ago.
"A German restaurant has drawn protests and plaudits for refusing to give a dinner reservation to a mother who wanted to bring her two small children. Dogs would be welcome, it said, but "here, children are not allowed in the evening."
As I said then, I think it's a great idea. It's a bitch havin' to fight those rug rats for the stuff that hits the floor.

Rats...that means I can never go anywhere!! LOL My three year oldd is a handful no matter where we are. I holed myself up for the last year because he can be kind of LOUD when we're in public. He is just talking but in a LOUD kind of way. *sigh There will be a day when I can do this again....just not now!

I'm with you on this. My children only go to family restaurants, and where they go they behave...or get carted out so fast it makes the whole restaurant spin. I have never spanked my kids, but I tell you true: they behave in restaurants and other public places because they have learned, as you have stated, that there are consequences to their poor choices for behavior.
And now my kids are angels, and many people invite them at age five and eight back to their houses to play with their children because they're great kids. Do they act up? Oh yeah. They're human, just like their mommy. But damnit, they at least know to not act up in a restaurant. I want to eat without screaming, and so does everybody else there. It means we largely didn't go out to eat when they were infants, and they learned to behave fast when they became older. Can you tell this issue bothers the heck out of me too? Oh, and while we're at it? Parents, do NOT let your children kick the backs of seats in the movie theater or the plane!

Heh - I did a similar rant over at DotMoms a week or so ago about parents at an open house who (without consulting their hostess) ordered a pizza for delivery for their children because the kids turned their noses up at what was offered.
If that had happened at my house? I'd have graciously and quietly packed the pizza back in the box and handed it back to the family so that they could enjoy it in the comforts of their own home...
