I remember my mother making that clay for us to play with. It was better than PlayDough, because it turned to rockhard. Quickly. PlayDough takes eons.
Thanks for posting the recipe. I'd forgotten how simple it is, and the grandson is about ready to start in on the statues to adorn Grandpa's office. Well, that and the strangely comforting Lego constructions....

Yeah, thanks Mamacita!
I'm gona make some clay tomorrow for my baby sister, and teach her how to make pots, cups, plates, and saucers, and frisbees, then we will go outside and play catch after it's good and hard.

That's so touching! Who cares about cobwebs? As long as they aren't blocking out the memories, these trinkets still shine.

Would the kids have treasured the play dough as much if it was store bought? I think not.
I always understood that we made our own fun. I tried not to ask for too much. A pity my brother and sister didn't learn to appreciate the same lesson. All you hear from them is complaints about how deprived they were-- never any memory of annything good-- like how my mom took us all to Europe at least twice (Dad worked for an airline, and sometimes we slept in the car while there and ate hotdogs for months afterward, but STILL. Be thankful, you whiny freaks.)
I liked making my own candles and bath salts and play dough. It made the play time have twice as much in it.

This sounds like the stuff we used to have in sunday school. Boy was that fun to play with -- endless supplies of clay!
