Myself, I perfer the word "unique". Who's to say what is or is not elegant? It's like those makeover shows and "What Not to Wear". Each one gives conflicting advice.
I believe elegance is like class. It's in your attitude, the way you handle yourself and your outlook on life. And you, my dear, have no worries on that account.

I think your area looks just fine - it's the "clutter" that makes you who you are. If you like what you have there, that is all that matters!

I envy your shelves. They'd give me a place to put the stacks.

Try 'eclectic' as an elegant term for 'funky.'

Oh but it's so cool! I love the color of your walls. Funky~to Hell with elegant.
That's like the same old, "Who's to say what's normal?".

I like funky too! I guess my word would be "eclectic", but elegant is stuffy and boring to me.
I'd love a kitten (or 2 or 3) but mr. kenju would kick us all out if I got more than the two I already have.
