I too would have a soft spot for Disney originals if they had managed to stay just that, Disney originals.
But all this remastering and remaking and spinoff nonsense just has to stop.
I mean really. Bambi 2? What is up with that?!

But The Incredibles are really cool too. Definitely worth watching - in the kitchen or anywhere.

Parent Trap! My all-time favorite! They should be inprisoned for the remake, although I do like Dennis Quaid. My daughter's third grade teacher couldn't begin to understand why I didn't like the new one? Umm, let's see. We will fight for a DARE program in our schools, but laugh and laugh when a Disney film shows a woman drunk. Nice message to the kiddies. And I really could have gone my entire life without having seen that butler in a Speedo. Still having nightmares about that one.

I love that somebody else loves movies such as this. If I had a DVR or a DVD in my kitchen, I too would watch such flicks. I adore The Lion King, but maybe that's because my kids were at such an adorable age when it came out and my son watched it on a loop. I say, Rock On!
Michele sent me and I'm glad!!!!

Haley Mills! I loved "The Trouble with Angels" when I was younger, but that's not a movie they ever play on TV. My daughter (22) found it on DVD, and now she likes it watching it too.
Just last week we watched Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin (love the Genie) and Sleeping Beauty. It's funny, now when she watches them, she realizes how much stuff just went right over her head when she was younger.

Disney's "Almost Angels" swept me away. The Vienna Choir Boys in Augarten Palace?! Be still faint heart!

If you haven't already done so, may I recommend you go see "Cars?" It's such a wonderful, fun, sweet story, and I think you'll love it! My children sent my dad tickets for Father's Day, and he was thrilled. Enjoy!

I agree with all of this (esp. the ones you don't care for (me either). Fantasia will always be my favorite, and I still love Disney and I am grateful that I have grandchildren with whom to watch them!

Here's my problem with Parent Trap. Who in the world would agree to never see one of their children again, and let that child live with a person you hate so much you never want to have any contact with, ever? And how could you deprive your child of even knowledge of any sibling, much less a twin? I think that's wrong, wrong, wrong and now you can see -- if you didn't know this already-- that I take stories and movies WAAY too seriously.
Now I liked the remake of Freaky Friday-- Jamie Lee Curtis got the best lines, that lucky duck-- but Herbie was so-so.
Pocahontas makes me nuts as a history teacher.
I too hold the "two levels of meaning" theory regarding Disney movies and Looney Tunes, as well as Sesame Street except for Elmo and Zoe, which make me want to hurl. Mr. Noodle is good though, because they have always used gifted physical comedians who get way too little respect.
I believe they do this so that parents will not snap and destroy the television or the movie theatre after repeated viewings, if we were not entertained along with our repetition-loving offspring. It also makes us life-long fans, which is good for the brand.
And I was just forced to sit through Cheaper by the Dozen 2, and I may not get rid of my bad mood for at least 24 hours. It was that appalling. Steve, Eugene, Bonnie-- what have you done? And Hillary Duff looks like she's thirty (not a compliment).

I will never tire of The Incredibles. Other Disney stuff is just okay to me, though I used to be able to belt out the entire soundtrack for Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid....in college, when I should have had infinite disdain for such things.

As some of you know, I am a huge movie buff, and I owe that in part to my mother walking us down to the video store to get three-for-a-dollar rentals on all Disney cartoons and movies. My sister got a pick, I got a pick, and my mom got to pick one for us (but she watched, too). I rotated my picks among Pollyanna, The Three Lives of Thomasina, and those Mickey Mouse cartoon collection series. My sister would only rent The Parent Trap. She'd throw a tantrum if it was out. (Yes, we both like the remake but not as much.) I'm such a big fan, I even own the Alice Adventures (silent shorts) collection, which came with a bunch of classic cartoon shors like my all-time favorite, "The Little House." (That and "Johnny Fedora" are just wonderful to watch.)
Oh, and I can't stand the Cheaper by the Dozen movies. My friend and I think that the parents would have had CPS called on them long before the end of the first one. I also think the children are obnoxious brats who think of no one but themselves. Oh, and I can't stand Hillary Duff.

The Hunchback was a little too cute for me, but i loved "The Incredibles."
That was imaginative and funny, and I really appreciate films I can watch with my 10-year-old that we both like.

I'm a big fan of tons of kids movies. I just watched "Over the Hedge" and it was a hoot. What is it with those hyperactive squirrels? First the one in "Ice Age" and then the critter in "Over the Hedge"?

Fantasia scared my kids when they were younger. But so did that PBS show Big Comfy Couch.
I like Mulan, but I'm not a fan of Pocahontas. That one, I'm afraid, was a bomb (and not DA BOMB).
But I cry every single time I watch Beauty and the Beast (plus I like to sing along with the opening song).
AND the Little Mermaid makes me tear up. I love Disney movies. LOVE. LOVE.
And also? Thank you, Mamacita, for turning me on to Moxy Fruvous in the previous MixMania. I'm now a huge fan.
And also? That guy with the longish hair on the website? I'm in ELL OH VEE EE. For serious.

My fave is Bedknobs & Broomsticks. I love the originals, generally could care less for the sequels (to the new movies or the old ones). I generally don't get a chance to watch them as for the most part my kids could care less. Ah well.

I've never been a HUGE fan of Disney, though I can appreciate good animation, good writing, and good songs.
However, between the sequels (Robert Smigel did a Bambi 2000 on one of his SNL cartoons, so I didn't think they'd ever do a Bambi 2 - boy, was *I* wrong) and the slimy marketing (Disney Princesses? That's a big ol' Whiskey Tango Foxtrot), I've grown to loathe their corporate practices. Family Guy nailed it when they had Michael Eisner saying "Come to Disneyland!" in a cheerful voice, then immediately following it gruffly with "Bring money."
