Perhaps I should meet you half way on a Christmas tree farm somewhere? I need to see you (touch the real you) and I need a Christmas tree, too. Plus, Rich needs a moose. We have been on at least 10 vacations solely to find him a moose and he has yet to see one- they are usually in the rearview mirror and I'm screaming, "there was one!There was one1"

How lucky for you to have such a charming guest! I love the flashback and most of all, I love your pleasure in his visit. And the grammar lesson is helpful.
