Kinda hard not to chuckle just a little bit when you post those disappointing grades, no? I bet the parents of those disappointed kids are like some of my kid's friends parents who are not involved at all in what their kids are supposed to be doing in school, and then are mystified when the failing grades come in. At some point, parents need to at least try and ask the questions that will keep their kids on track. If they don't, then you get people like those truants in your class.
Oh - I'm jealous of the pizza you had, and glad your lights are on and you don't have to work tomorrow!

Good to visit Mamacita....So, is the idea that you can eat as many slices as you can put in your tummy for the price of one? Whatever it is...it is always fun to go to a All You Can Eat place...I used to LOVE Buffet Brunches..but truthfully, I don't think I ate anymore than I would have in a regular meal!
Glad your houselights co-operated just as you got to the door!
I hope your Christmas is wonderful my dear. Filled with family, friends and fun...!

Most of the clocks in my house are battery operated, for just that reason. The power doesn't go out very often, but I don't want to have to reset everything. Oh, and two of my clocks set automatically via the atomic clock (in Boulder, CO?). I don't even set the clock on the microwave; that screen is blank unless I push "cook 2:00" for some water for hot chocolate.
There's a pizza buffet not far from where I live. I've only been once, but oh was it good!
I don't post grades online, but I brought home two classes' worth of trig tests to grade. On vacation? No good deed goes unpunished.
Have a great vacation!

It's sad how Noble Roman's went to hell. They had by far the best pizza in town in the 70s, and responded to growing competition by making their pizza worse. I haven't eaten a Noble Roman's pizza in over ten years.
There's Mother Bear's. Great pizza.

I too posted grades after school let out. And I also will have parents and students "shocked, shocked" to find that not doing the work often results in a failing grade. The first day of every class I tell students that the best way to fail my class is to not do the work. Since the administration in their dubious wisdom decided that my elective doesn't count toward GPA's for class rank, I often get gifted but lazy scholars who expect to cruise through the class based on their current GPA. I shocked them all when I discussed how highly selective colleges were refiguring GPA for admission. I imagine that when I check emails after the break I will have several indignant ones from parents. When I offer extra credit, reviews and other aids and none of these much blessed children avail themselves of them, I don't feel sorry. Not one bit.
