Tell me what you really think.

Gravatar Offering you a random list of thoughts as I read this:

1. I adore that you called the frog Prince Charming, although, I thought all frogs were named that. Yes, I still read Fairy Tales.

2. I adore even more that you set him free. Simply because I do

3. You willingly chose to take a 7:00 a.m. class and a 7:15 a.m. lab? Without being forced? You simply decided to do this on your own accord? I am impress and yet confused. Why would you do this?

4. Not becoming a teacher is one of the three biggest regrets I have. I admire, respect, and simply adore teachers. The other two regrets? I have not had them yet, but I trust one day I will, so I am giving myself permission to do so.

5. You actually CHOSE an early morning class?

Gravatar GOOD FOR YOU!!

I took anatomy in high school--but if I'd had to *kill* an animal? NUH UH.

I've gone up against teachers before. I didn't always come out ahead, but at least I held my ground.

Gravatar Eww. I couldn't have done that either.

It's not a big thing, but if you get a chance drop by my blog. I nominated you for the Power of Schmooze.

Gravatar I think one of the reasons I collect frogs now is to atone for the ones I mangled in biology classes. I hated every minute of it, too. When you were at IU, did you know a guy in the athletic Dept. named Bill King? If so, answer me here:

Gravatar In high school we had no choice--we pithed the poor froggy and then sliced him open (though today many school offer computer dissection instead...I wish that technology had existed then), unhappily poking through things that were never meant to be exposed.

I have to give my biology teacher props, though; he knew half the kids at my table were upset, and allowed us to give the poor thing a proper burial in the little garden behind the classroom.

Now I wonder how many biology lab projects wound up there...

Gravatar I could never kill a living thing like that...I rescue the spiders out of my shower even though I'm terrified of them. Wait, I hate snakes (hate is not a term I use lightly, either), so could I kill one of them? **thinking** No, actually, I couldn't just coldly look at something breathing, living, thinking and then kill it slowly while I watched, not even a snake.

Dear Lord, I wonder how many homicidal maniacs start out that way?!!

Gravatar See, now? I'm perfectly okay with this. You made a conscious, thoughtful decision about what you were and were not willing to do. This stands in stark contrast to MY students (one in particular at the moment) who don't do things for stupid-ass reasons (if there's a reason at all) and have no intelligent discourse to back themselves up. It's just wrong.

Gravatar And now you have the adoration of one 10 year old little girl. She's dreading this class next year. I think I will be in for a few principal visits involving missing frogs.

Gravatar I so completely standing ovation that call.

Practices like that are another reason why I love science but never see myself getting a degree in it.
