Tell me what you really think.

Amen to that... and please, digress away. I wrote about one of our state assemblywomen proposing legislation that would duplicate what is already on the books. Why not figure out what is causing so many California kids to leave high school without a diploma. How about they use (our) legislative time to do something worthwhile rather than propose legislation that does nothing more than say "Hey, look at me."
But I digress -

Same for me... rarely do I enjoy the movies that get nominated, or agree with the ones that are lauded above others. Shame that has to matter so much. I prefer a quiet little film that says something to a big showy blockbuster. Thought I did love the Lord of the Rings movies.

Absolutely, on all counts. I want stories that make me happy. When I want stories that make me sad or scared or angry, there's always the news.
Also on the conspicuous consumption, school funding, and parental responsibilities parts. You are so good at articulating what I think.

Digress baby, digress!!! I agree with you on everything you said about the movies.
Last night I went to a movie that won't get any nominations but well worth seeing - Amazing Grace - glad I went to see it and the ending is happy. I wrote up about it on my blog.

Is it not incredible that Mrs. Clinton would confiscate Big Oil profits for social good, and nothing is said regarding the obviously outrageous misuse of money by the hollywood bunch. Indubitably I do beleive...
we have our priorities really mixed up.

Hello. I discovered your blog this morning. Very funny and refreshing. I have added it on my blog. You will see it in the category "These are my favorite blogs" with the title "A lot to tell". I am from Switzerland but live and work in Africa. Have a nice day. Peter

I too rewrite movies in my head so that they have the 'correct' ending.
And I am appalled--APPALLED!--at the whole concept of giving gift baskets worth thousands and thousands of dollars to the already sickeningly rich celebrities.
I think the companies who donate all those gift items should take the money that they're losing and donate it to various charites in the name of each of the 'celebrity'. At least then we could PRETEND that the well-off and well-known were doing something that requires a social conscience.
Pah.

Seems like the Oscars (and this year the Grammys) have turned into nothing more than left-leaning political platforms for songs or movies that "make a statement" rather than entertain people which is what they claim to be doing.
So yeah, don't watch most Oscar-nominated movies and sure as HELL don't listen to Dixie Chicks! Not worth your time really if you actually do want to be entertained.
I also agree with you about those people that spend more time and money on themselves than on their kids. Selfish people should not be allowed to reproduce. It's just that simple.
