Our culture wouldn't be what it is today without history. It's funny that in grade school, I hated history because the teachers were so demanding that we knew the dates instead of the stories. I love stories that get me wrapped up in the history and make me feel as if I were there. Now that I'm *uh hum* older, I appreciate history more because I can choose where I learn it from.
Have a good day and for heaven's sake, get some sleep

Go to bed!!
I have forgotten why Tybalt lived with his aunt and uncle. Tell me?
A college English professor who was my favorite, taught Shakespeare a little bit like that. He made everything more interesting to us. It really does help a lot to know the tenor of the times.

Oooo. Love it. Because I was never told of these wonders of the Bard, where can one find the answers to the "wherefore", Tybalt, and palm questions?? Do you have any Shakespeare demystified books you can recommend for those of us who had uninteresting English/Lit teachers?

Just linked to your site from the whole CF vs breeders mess. I love your posts and can't wait to have time to catch up on all the past ones.
I'm not sure where you are but a few things in the main page posts ring a bell or two for some reason. The Lawr county, plane crash and Kings Island, which is 2 and a half hours from my home.
Just wanted to introduce myself and say good job!

Good teaching can make all the difference with regards to Shakespeare. I flatter myself that I'm pretty good with Romeo and Juliet, but I'll admit I need to work on my presentation of Julius Caesar. I haven't had a chance to teach the other plays much, aside from teaching A Midsummer Night's Dream twice and King Lear once.

The more I read past blog logs I think I may have been wrong and we just live in neighboring states.

The best part of teaching R & J is translating it for the kids. Telling them what is actually being said, and then watching their faces as they realize...hey! It's all about sex!!
I love it. I hate teaching Ceasar, but Romeo and Juliet thrill me to death.
