Tell me what you really think.

Gravatar I cannot imagine how that school district could allow that to happen. All they have to do is put some soft-ware on the computers to keep that from being a possibility. How horrible for her.

Gravatar I don't find the right words to describe how I feel about this, it seems unreal, insane, ridiculous and so horrible at the same time...

Gravatar What idiots! And I thought the schools here in 'Bama was bad!

BTW: Thanks for the link to Anne's site, it's wonderful.

Gravatar While I do wish she'd reached over and turned off the monitor, it's amazing to me that this case has gone as far as it has.

And.....FORTY years??? Even if she'd done this deliberately (which it's pretty clear she didn't)...many people don't even get that for killing someone. Good grief.

Gravatar That is just unspeakable. I am so glad that I was able to leave the system when I did. I haven't met many retired teachers, who, when asked, "Do you miss it?" reply in the affirmative.

God help us all.

Gravatar It is relatively simple to see how the computer got to the website, if you have the right software, in this case.

I remember once when computers were new technology in the schools, one of our little darlings in middle school got caught looking at a website that had pictures of all kinds of truly indescribable porn. Claimed it was an accident. Except for the fact that the terms he had typed into the search engine were right there in the address. His mom was completely backing him up --until I showed her that.

There is no excuse for this situation. None. These people going after this woman are complete idiots.

Gravatar Are we sure this isn't an urban legend? It sounds just too ridiculous to be true. A teacher wouldn't receive that kind of punishment for physically or sexually abusing a student...

I'm speechless.

Gravatar Nope, it's true. I've seen it around the blogosphere (with lots and lots of links), and on places I trust. I have a pretty strong BS filter, and this is for real.

I believe it has also been on the network newscasts.

WF

Gravatar Thanks for not saying "too ode."

Gravatar What's so upsetting to me about this story, in all it's permutations, is that anyone would spend a dime of taxpayer money to even take it to court. It's frivolous. To suggest that those 7th graders have NEVER been exposed to, inadvertently seen or sought out this type of internet garbage before is ridiculous. Oh, the trauma! And instead of the parents taking the time to have calm discussion with their children about what's appropriate, how to think about it, how to best avoid it- no, better to go haywire and sue. The molehills that get turned into mountains and then result in catastrophic landslides for someone's life- shameful is not a strong enough word for it. This is crap. Sorry I can't be more coherent about it but truly, don't we have bigger concerns to confront than this poor woman's day of substitute teaching?
