Tell me what you really think.

Gravatar Gilda rules!

I also have some "inappropriate" t-shirts in my closet. But the teenager has discovered them and is wearing many of them as nightshirts.

Gravatar Oh my gosh- you must be my long-lost sister! I have black slacks, navy slacks, and (so daring, lol) a pair of houndstooth check ones. Sweater sets, sweater coats, and I don't spend more than 2 minutes in the morning choosing! It just has to be comfortable, cotton (no scratchy wool or polyester), and modest so that I can perch on desks, lean down, whatever, and not worry about anything showing or falling out!
I do remember the sexy shoes and pretty dresses of my early teaching career, but now I am so busy with 145 9th and 10th graders that fashion is way down on the list of things I care about. I think it all has to do with the fact that I turned 50 a few days ago!

Gravatar Whoa- typo or act of denial?? I turned 59 a few days ago!

Gravatar I can so relate! I miss broomstick skirts, but it's so much more about function than fashion now. Why can't it be a little more of both?

Gravatar Love the title.

I have had dresses like you mention; one of my favorites was a granny dress in denim (raised waist, big, long skirt, 3/4 sleeves. I was convinced by my daughters to give it away and now I am so sorry - I miss it terribly! I could wear that dress and eat a huge meal and still be comfortable!

Gravatar I saw the typo too - a rare one for Scheiss.

I would be completely happy if I could wear the same thing every day. Comfortable.

Gravatar Hey Cathy- the typo was mine! I hit the 0 instead of the 9- guess I would rather be 50 than 59.

Gravatar I have a clothing magazine called "Gypsy Rose" and it's got hippy clothing [I personally, am Partial to it as well. ]

Gravatar Oh what a memory this story brought back!

My favorite dress when I was a baby teacher in the early 70s was red, white, and blue paisley. (I wore red undies with it and I felt secretly sexy.) It had long sleeves and a slight V-neck and white collar and cuffs of the pointy 70s variety. My students always complimented me on it -- even the boys.

I'm sure that I am taller than you, because of what happened the time I wore it for an observation by my dept chair, my principal, and the subject area boss lady from downtown.

The observation was followed by the usual eval meeting. While the dept chair and downtown lady looked at the ceiling or maybe the floor, my principal blushed to his receding hairline and said, "From now on when you work with the students at their desks, please squat, don't bend."

No wonder those rascally seventh grade boys liked the dress. We weren't allowed to wear slacks to school at that time, and all skirts were minis -- maxi skirts hadn't been invented yet. Within the next couple of weeks we got permission to wear pants suits to work.

Gravatar Oops.

That was me, graycie, with the very short dress.
