Tell me what you really think.

Oh, my! You are having a hissy fit, aren't you? But I totally agree: Give me a real person on the other end of the line, and quit the password crap for Web sites that should just be "out there" for everyone to access.

Passwords are evil. Kittens are even better than cats. Balm for the soul.

I think my new kitty could give yours a run for their money in the fart department. How do they manage it, the wee fuzzy darlings?
Re the rest of it: amen.

I always call back and bark about the fact that a robot has taken away a job. If I'm going to be solicited it gives me pleasure to hang up on a live person instead of a robot. Ok that's a little dark pleasure I've never admitted.
Kittens....I love kittens.....I love kittens in my home AFTER they have been box trained and over the scratching phase.

I agree with all you say and even baby kittens cannot wipe out the rage I feel at robot calls! This is why I also agree with you that caller-ID is the best invention in the universe. Another peeve of mine is calling a tech service or something similar and getting a person who either cannot speak our language or who botches it terribly.

Oh man, you're singing my song. Not only do I detest Robotron Calling, but it's made worse when Robotron dials my number 20 freaking times a day.
And add to the whole Register To Read My Blog thing: when some of the posts are public, and others are private. Look, either hang it all out there or don't. Why alienate part of your readers by letting them know they're only welcome for a small slice of what you have to say? Pick pick public posting or private posting, and leave it at that.
I could go on...but I won't

There are some no call databases you can get into. We had one here in NY but I think there's now a national database. You can sign up and waste just a little bit less of your time talking to idiots and robots.
I too am amazed they have the audacity to claim their calls are important when they can't even be bothered to have humans make them. It's a lie just like the one you here when your phome/ cable/ computer drops dead and the recording c laims, "Your call is very important to us."
Just not important enough to answer.

I report each and every robot call that shows up on the caller I.D. to the do not call site since we've got all our numbers registered. Jerks. The robots piss me off and I screen their calls. The worst part of those calls is they WAKE YOU UP on a Sunday morning and then you're so mad you can't get back to sleep!
I just don't ever pick up the phone any more unless I recognize the number.

Use bugmenot for those site registrations:
http://www.bugmenot.com/
Those of us who do tech support and customer service hate IVRs and such too. First thing they tell you is "no one ever lost a job as a result of putting in this software". Give it a year and your job is gone and everyone gets to talk to robots.

Found the link I was looking for. This one lets you bypass the robot/canned messages and get to real people: http://gethuman.com/us/
