I miss Molly too. Her columns on "the finest free entertainment in Austin" (the Texas Legislature) got me hyped on state government (the forgotten level).
Her wit will not be seen again. I love that quote.
Happy Valentine's Day, Mamacita. We're snowed in up here, but Jawa Girl still tredged on to work (hopefully just long enough to get the laptop and come back home).

Molly Ivins was always one of my absolute heros. She made me proud to be a Texan (as if I needed a reason!). Even if she was an unapologetic, flaming liberal.
Love you back, Jane. You now htat you are one of my heroes, too. Pretty good company, I'd say!
in the words of my boys...Happy Valentimes Day!

Mama, Mama, Mama! Where to begin? I guess with, "Can I borrow your Muse? PLEASE? I'll feed her the finest dark chocolate, Mexican and Chinese food and margarita and mojito. Just please send her my way."
I missed several days and now I'm on the porch lanquishing in your written word. I've read aloud, to Rich and good friend Linda, back through "Diffident vamping" and we're alternately weeping with laughter and weeping with joy at your tender memories. I say: Give her a book and a batch of cookies, write "thoughtful paper, needs some work, AWESOME effort."
Jane- when you're in the zone, it's a field of dreams and you stand alone. What pleasure. Thank you.

Happy Valentine's Day!
I've been to Hershey, PA and truly there is no place on earth like it. The smell of chocolate is in the air... everywhere, all the time. Occasionally the whiff of roasting nuts chimes in. Everything is chocolate... even the taste of the mashed potatoes...(although I don't think this was intended) It would not be the place for a chocolate lover to lose weight. Sigh.

"Slack-jawed hill ape". I say this phrase at least once a day, and every time I do, I think of you, with fondness.
Happy Valentine's Day, from your white trash sister

Thank you, sister dear. I still don't remember saying that, but remembering us both back then, I have no doubt that I did. I caught the scent of watermelon stix today and thought of you. And by the way, Mom wants us all to come to her house for a pitch-in soon.
