The Turkish government have a "robust" instrument in the form of code 301 (“insulting Turkishness and the state institutions”). This can inhibit freedom of expression and there is continued evidence of prosecution for generally peaceful speech on certain topics.
Unlike the UK, it would not be acceptable, for example, to make public scrutiny and criticism of the conduct of Turkish state institutions.
And that new law in June gives new "stop and search" style powers to the Police, so care required with posts and comments around some of this.

but this case isn't even conected to the whole 'insulting turkishness' issue. it's simply a private case about defamation of character really. however my mentioning turkey and turkies in the same sentance could be slightly iffy.

finding new proxy sites is a pain in my lovely behind. and it's gotta be costing the poor stupid culty benefactors tons of cash which would be better spent helping turkeys homeless, or hospitals or education or transport system, or budget airlines, or planting more tulip bulbs in april, or buying a fucking clue.
The same scenario plays out all over the world. I know it's not in the same league, but where I work some senior manager with a bad case of NPD was ridiculed in a youtube video and decided to ban all staff and students from using, not just youtube but anything remotely connected, e.g. blogger. He would probably have banned google too but even he realised he'd be laughed off the face of the planet.
BTW, it's not necessary to sign anything to see my bum.

I'm a bit late I know but I've been busy.
I have signed the petition 3 times, posted about it here (and the fact that it's slowing down my plans for world domination), posted a link to the petition and demanded all of my visitors sign it (with a slightly veiled threat to anybody who doesn't).
As for the beautiful weather, I can vouch for it, I was over there in sunny kebab land on the mentioned days and the temperatures were were warmer then the ones stated, with clear blue skies (even better when you spend the day on a boat).
