keda - what a delight to have you visiting my place, despite the pull of the TV soaps! Ah, the lure of the electronic nipple, I know it well. Is it the security of one's relationship that allows one to slack off and blob out? Then the only hope becomes staying in the relationship and trusting that boredom will eventually force one off one's arse and out the other side.
With the upturned glass against the floorboards, were you able to hear the neighbours doing anything else French? No wonder you miss them.
Sounds like they were winning neighbours. I imagine you awoke in the morning to the scent fresh French coffee and croissants. Maybe not. If your new neighbours turn out to be muppets, as much screaming elephant action as can be mustered might do the trick in moving them on.
